Mulies, last week from the back of my horse...wolves howling just out of sight up canyon on the elk bulges.  Should have snow there now.

OK, twist my arm guys :)  It is a 45-75 Cimarron that they cut down to the 22" length originally.  I bought it 2nd hand some time ago and shot it a lot.  I added 2" to the LOP when I had the wood replaced with delux and checkered by Macon.  At the same time had them add the checkered steel shotgun butt I bought previous.  Turnbull did the case colors.  Cody Museum had a poster with a '76 short rifle on an old saddle  25 years ago I had framed back then.  No repro '76s 25 years ago so figured I'd never own one.  I ordered a new 1/2 seat saddle early last year.  When I did that I also sent the rifle off to be refinished at the same time.  I'm happy with both! Quite the dream fulfilled really.

Beautiful. Well done. What ballpark price range for that wood, if I may ask?

Well who's working on a Hunting load for this fall ? Anyone thinking about a Buffalo Hunt with a 45-75 . What about a Texas Hog Hunt ? Either way keep burning powder .

Looks cool to me. Normally I'm not fond of scopes on lever guns, but the Long Malcolm style scope is about as cool as can be.

Am I seeing it right, that the dust cover has been removed to mount the scope? Is that typical (I'm not too scope savvy).

That's right . You have to remove the dust cover . But you can put a scope on a 73 or 76 .

I've found that I can easily get 60 grains of 2f Olde E in my modern brass.  I did use a compression die, but the compression wasn't severe.  I was actually using a 350 grain bullet and was getting over 1,400 f.p.s. out of it.  I wasn't too impressed with the accuracy at 260 yards (mostly misses on a 10 inch steel plate), but reviewing the video showed that the shots were actually quite accurate--a spotter (if I'd had one) could have helped me adjust the sights, and I think I'd have rung that steel reliably.  As it was, the smoke obscured the target so much, that I had no idea where I was missing.  This is an older video I shot with only 720p.  You may want to FF through the talking.  My son, after viewing some of my youtube vids called me the "Gun Bob Ross".
