I have been working with a pietta pistol in 44wcf . Plan on getting my 76 out and shooting . I really like the 45-60 it's a sweet shooter . I have seen on TV that Texas is getting LOTS of rain . What about your part of the state  ?

Your right Rowdy the 45/60 wcf is a sweet shooter .Born -n- raised here in Tejas and never have I seen this much rain . All three ranchs have had a yrs . ammount of rain in just a few wks. Lucky headquarters are high and dry on all three. The canyons and draws have been blasted , roads washed out , and low water crossings just busted wide open. There are exotic animals scattered all over from this mess. The Good Lord and Mother nature will take care of us in the end. We are doing fine , Please say a Prayer for our Neighbors they sure need it.,,,,,,DT

I hunted with vintage arms for about 50 years. Mostly with Winchester and Sharps rifles designed before 1900. I tried them newfangled modern scoped rifles but soon returned to my vintage rifles. About half the time these were loaded with Black Powder the real gun powder. I am 72 now and can't walk much so I stopped hunting several years ago. I don't do blinds or tree stands, I have always still hunted.

I'm almost done paying off a 1873 Trapdoor Rifle in .45-70. Gonna have to take that and my .45 1875 Remington clone on a hunting trip, I think, if only once.

Rowdy--since I am getting on in years (77+) I let my sister's likd do the hunting in our pasture.  I have sort of given up in using the '76 but hope that my boy (45) will grab it and use it.  He is a very good shot with that rifle whether with BP or smokeless.

Rowdy, ive used a flintlock rifle, built from a kit, from track of the wolf, for more than a few years. But its just been for black powder season. I have a 76, a 73 sporting, 45 colt, and the "boss" has a special sporting in 357

It's all about having FUN and being safe . I started this journey back in 1987 , I was stationed at Ft. Campbell and purchased a Winchester 30 -30 . Started using lever guns and let my Remington 700 just sit in the closet . Then I started cowboy shooting and was always shooting a lever gun almost every Saturday . So then I came up with the idea if I shoot this Rifle all the time why not stiffen up the loads and try it hunting . I had a 1866 carbine in 45 colt and killed a nice doe with it , then I started using 76's and 73's and working with Black powder and black powder subs . I am already planning my Deer season and have my vacation for opening week . That will be my chance to relive 1879 .

Rowdy,
The pork was excellent. Through some trick of fate, he was a boar, but his ..... Did not develop. He was the fattest woods hog hunters in their eighties here had ever seen. He had almost an inch of fat over his entire carcass. Still frying breakfast pork about once a week. Lol
