I have a Cimarron 76 carbine in 45-60.
I compared it with an original at the local Cabelas.
The rear sight on the original (it liooked like it was original to the gun) was just like the rear sight on a Uberti 66 carbine, the sight on my Cimarron 76 is more like a rear sight on a 73 carbine or a Henry.
Do'es anyone know what the original 76's came with ?
The one on my gun has a very wide channel in the sight and is very hard to get a good sight picture.
Has anyone else noticed this ? or is my gun unique.

Hi, Asa.
The short answer is that Winchester would, and did, put any sight on the 76 carbine that the customer wanted. I had an original carbine in 45-60 that had a two leaf Lyman - don't recall the number. One leaf was a flat top with a wihite diamond and the second was a type of "buckhorn." Many/most 76s had a "sporting leaf" sight - the type you often find on SRCs, but a bit longer.
As for Uberti....well, I have an 1866 carbine that has the same carbine sight (sporting leaf) that my Uberti 73 carbine has!
Maybe Buck can give you a more detailed answer.
