WRA Headstamp Information?
« on: September 06, 2009, 08:33:34 AM »
Howdy

I have recently added a few old cartridges with the WRA headstamp on them to my small but growing cartridge collection. I'm prettty sure WRA stands for Winchester Repeating Arms. Can anybody give me a little bit of history on this headstamp?

Thanks.
That’s bad business! How long do you think I’d stay in operation if it cost me money every time I pulled a job? If he’d pay me that much to stop robbing him, I’d stop robbing him.

Ya probably inherited every penny ya got!

Driftwood,
You need to be asking "w44wcf" this question.  Just PM him.  His email is w30wcf@adelphia.net.

WRA is Winchester Repeating Arms.

Here is a directory of cartridge head stamps... Google is my friend...!

Here is a guide to reference material on cartridge head stamps.

Thanks

I can google too. I was looking for some more specific information, like when did the WRA headstamp first appear, and when was it last produced. All the Winchester brass I buy these days simply says Winchester on it.

You'll either have to buy some of those books I referenced, or find some one that has them... I'll bet they're not that cheap either.

Driftwood,

I know this is an old topic from 2009 but I can not help but laugh at the sarcastic replies you got. When I post a similar question, I typically have already exhausted google. And like Stillwater said, the books with the information are almost $100 in most cases. I spent all my book money on airplane books...aint gonna sell them nor buy more books. Sometimes I can get a book ordered through he public library...but not very often these type books.

I like to get the information I am looking for from the guys that have already read the books...lol!!!

Here is an unheadstamped 44 WCF cartridge I just picked up. The bullet appears to be somewhat Heeled. I feel fairly confident after nearly 10 years you have the information you want...lol

My question is, has anyone seen a bullet like this one I just got? Any known information would be appreciated.

I posted the photos on my web page...here is a link:
