Henry, Jake, welcome to the boards! Pull up a chair and your choice of liquid and sit a spell. Got some fine shootin' iron and what a fine hole they make!

I am the very proud new owner of a Spencer in 45 Scofield. It is a wonderfull shooter and a tack driver. I shot mine this past weekend at the California State SASS match. It was fun to listen to all of the questions form the more traditional lever action guys. And yes, it helped out that the string of shots was only 8.

I would like to join this group of Spencer aficionados. I joined CAS about 3 weeks ago and began reading all 45 pages of this forum. I used the name Chromebolt (the name I use on a machinegun forum), but rejoined yesterday when I couldn't figure out how to change my name. I use Shenandoah on a flintlock forum. Shenandoah is more fitting. I learned much about Spencers from the previous readings. Thanks to everyone who contributed. I have a Taylors in .44 Russian. Hopefully by Christmas, I'll have one in 50 cal. Shenandoah

Hello all. I am new here and found the site doing research on a gun I just got as a gift.
I was just given a 1863 Spencer Carbine Serial#27361 (in full working order) and am trying to find out about the rifle and any possible parts (calvary ring is broken, sight slide is missing or maybe never existed). Any help or information on the gun is appreciated. I would also like to find any accessories available or a collector should have. I am a civil war freak who is new to the collecting of guns.
I look forward to hearing from you.

Two Flints:
I am not sure if this is the place I register. I'll give it a shot anyway. Please register me in the Spencer Shooting Society. My Id will be my SASS alias: Crossdraw. SASS # 6929.
As for my background information: I have two original Spencer carbines. I use one for civil war reenacting, the other is as I purchased it 8-9 years ago: still in its orginal condition. I am currently considering retiring the gun I use for CW as I blieve it has taken too much abuse over the past 9 years. I am looking to obtain one, perhaps two reproduction Spencer carbines (56-50 of course).
I haven't done any cowboy shooting in a few years, but it is always in the back of my mind. I enloy and respect the cowboy way of life. Things should be as simple know as they were then.
Thank you for your consideration.
Ken Garbe "Crossdraw" SASS # 6929

Hi everyone. It would be a privilege to join such a group. My first Spencer, an 1865 carbine, is on its way to me across the Atlantic. Now I need to read up on converting it to center fire and loading for it. I have a lot of black powder experience with Sniders, Martini Henrys, Werndls, Sharps and Winchesters but a Spencer is something else.
