Mossyrock reporting in.   ;D  My Taylor 56-50 is inbound and should be in hand next week.  I figure it will be a good one to keep my 50-70 Roller and 45-60 company.  Now comes the fun part!  New molds, new dies, new brass, new loads.....  WOO-HOO!

Ever wonder what a 350gr, .512 caliber lead bullet moving at 1,100fps would do to a big elk-critter?  I'd sure like to find out! ;D

Have a 44 Russian carbine is inbound. Initially was looking for a rifle, but after researching, found entire regiments of infantry used the carbine, plus private purchase would allow it also.

Not too much of a story here, contacted a few sutlers only one I found that had any on hand was a 44 Russian. My preference would have been 44-40, but didn't want to wait.

72nd Indiana here. Long time reader, finally joining up. I occasionally bring out my Spencer rifle to the local Civil War reenactments and have a blast shooting seven rounds while the muzzleloaders take their thirty seconds.

Sign me up.  I'm hooked.

Fired my Taylor's Spencer 56-50 for the first time after yesterdays CAS match.  4 hits on 5 shots at a 125 yd buffalo, no sighing in.  Awesome!

Hey,

add my name to the list.  I ordered a rifle in 56-50 from Taylors back in June with a buddy following me a few days later by ordering a carbine in 56-50.  Of course, his carbine showed up a week later with my rifle remaining on backorder until late in August.  Oh well.  I apprecitate the imformation I've learned reading the posts here over the last few months.  Between live rounds and blanks, I have to have put at least 600 rounds through mine already.

Joining with a question -- is the Dixie Gun Works ArmiSport .56-50 carbine NSSA approved ?  I'm looking for a good source for a new repro Spencer -- NSSA's approval document only refers explicitly to the Taylor's model.

Hi,

I'd like to be apart of the Spencer Shooting Society.  I am not sure how to do that.  I am not an active in CSA activities, but the activities of CAS interest me, and I've inherited a Bannerman Spencer Repeating Shotgun from my Grandfather. Using Google Alerts, I became aware of the CAS site, and saw that some documentation on Spencer Shotguns was listed here (I haven't figured out how to view those documents yet).

The story behind my grandfather's Spencer is that it was supposedly the first repeating shotgun seen by the border guard of Dakota territory (at what is now Yankton, SD) to enter Dakota territory.  However, my Mother, still alive, will not support that claim, as she thought Grandpa was sometimes enthusastic with the truth.

The gun's action cycles, but because of the damascs barrel I wouldn't shoot it.  It is in good condition for something built about a hundred years ago.

So is there a specific action I need to do to be a member of the Spencer part of this group?

Thank you.

Hi all new spencer armi sport on its way to match my colt walker converted to 45 schofield with r and d conversion, any tips on spencer use will be appreciated.

I also just ordered a spencer rifle to match my carbine, hope to get some pictures of the pair as soon as it arrives. (from a 06-18-08 post and moved here by Two Flints)

thanks Brett Dixon
