The butt is easy, but the forestock (is that what ya call it?) won't give it up.. do I have to drift the pin holding the loading tube?

Hext, how did you remove the finish?  If I remember right I just scraped it off my 73.  Now I am getting ready to do my Henry and was wondering if there was another way.

I went to Home Depot and got some Bix spray-on stripper.
It worked ok.. but I'd use a different scraper (like a one of the hard plastic types) next time, I still had a few spots that the grain of the wood stayed sealed.  Use a lot of the stripper, it's cheap.  And do it outside.

The major improvement is the feel of the wood.  You don't need no stinking checkering, you got a grip.  The butt stock is one great looking piece of wood, and the fore grip doesn't match.  I don't care much, but may buy a replacement front piece one of these days.

I could see stripping a bunch of the pistol grips on my guns.. but I'm gonna have to work on my staining.
