--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here's a bit more on the various knives available pre-1898 - and they'd be found wherever an outfitter was supplying the Trade right around the time of the Klondike Gold Rush, and before the Spanish-American War.

As with the pocket knives - you'll want to be looking for an example that shows the honest wear 'you' put on it at the time - and not one whose blade's been turned into a toothpick by repeated sharpenings since then.

Good Luck, Good Hunting.

There are more - I'll post later on.

Sir Charles deMouton-Black:
I think its time to bring up St. George's Notes again.  I thought they would have been prime candidates for stickey treatment?

Anyway, I stumbled on some of St. Georges research material, and with all due respect to his knowledge & sources, I think it could be shared for the curious;
