.45 ACP cylinder in Uberti SAA?
« on: January 20, 2009, 12:12:39 AM »
I have a .45 LC Mitchell Arms Single Action Army Model, made by Uberti, Cat. 1518. VTI sells a .45 ACP cylinder for the "1873 SA", Code Number UB:402005.

I have a mess of .45 ACP I want to shoot but, like the idiot I often am, I sold my Combat Commander some years ago (and I will regret it to my dying day). I can't afford a new auto-loader. Do you think this could be made to work in my thumb-buster?

A Uberti is a Uberti.  Doesn't matter who imported it.  The cylinder should fit, might take a little tuning, but it should fit.

That's what I'm hoping to hear, Pettifogger, thanks. If there are any special things I ought to know about this, I hope someone will speak up.

FWIW, I once owned a Mitchell Arms SAA that came with both the LC and ACP cylinders...eventually traded it, though.

Looks like Midway has them for $98.99 plus $6.79 for shipping, and OMG they're in stock! ;D

You should have no trouble as I did the same thing of sorts when I purchased a Cimarron in 45 Colt. Cimarron wanted more money than VTI for basically the same part.  It was a no brainer and saved $ that I put into reloading components.  BTW, the 45 ACP cylinder shoots very well in my Model P and saves me powder in the process.  I find it a bit milder shooting than with the .45 Colt cylinder.
