cleaning guns with case coloring?
« on: January 17, 2009, 10:56:05 AM »
Hi Folks, I'm kinda new to this and have a question regarding cleaning. I have a new 1892 Cimarron carbine in 45C. The owners manual is not real clear and I do not want to damage the case coloring. Can anyone recommend some good solvents (including ones for lead removal)?

Thanks
Zane

I have a Rossi 92, a Uberti 73, a pair of Ruger NMV's all with some sort of "case coloring" imitation finish and for the last several years I have been using pretty much any cleaning chemical made with no evidence of damage to the CCH finish...other experiences may differ ;)

Hi Y'all,

I've read in a couple of places the problem for CCH is ammonia based solvents.  Others are mostly OK.
