I get to disassemble a printer today. Replace two gears and reassemble it. It will take about three hours.  Roll Eyes

Thanks fer the Coffee, good to have it

waters pumpin this morning,  maybe they'll get to the electric over there today.  if not we'll just keep on pumpin with the generator.  they had used about 500 gallons overnight.

the internet wasn't working early this morning,  It's in the phone lines somehow, I can get long distance calls but ever once in  a while I can't  dial local, but it's working now so I'll just live with it till they straighten it out.

got a load of feed ordered for today, gotta get the tractor out and clear the road a little, a few big limbs feel on that road, so I gotta push them outa the way. roads to town are clear, somebody came along and sawed up the trees that were across the road and all the ice is off the road, just mud now. temperature is up to 35 and they say it'll end up in the 50's this afternoon.

It's up to 50 now, I didn't sleep last night, so Victoria and I slept in this morning. The house is dark and quiet and just right for napping.  I hope the prayers helped Marshal harpoluke.

well the limbs are moved off the roads,  several big ones had broken off yesterday, I guess,  knocked down the dam over on the pond so it'd overflow like it's supposed to.  looks like I've got one of them pesky Beavers over there helpin,  may have to see about gettin Baked Beaver Tail on the menu.

Temps up to 42 with sunshine now.  clouds have been hangin tough this morning.

I could pop him in the head with whatever,  just don't wanta mess up the meat or tail,  I've had a roasted beaver before, but I never thought of trying to cook the tail back then.  if I can't see him tonight, I may get my neighbor that traps to set a trap for him.  he really had the spillway blocked good,  it took several  trys to knock it out with the tractor bucket. he had it woven together pretty good.

Had an independent dude out ta give an estimate on the counter top. $700.00 less than Lowe’s wanted. Same laminate. Be doin’ it in two weeks. I gottah go get the new sink but that ain’t a problem.

talked to another neighbor down the road today,
he had got a new generator for just since an event as we had,  but,  he hadn't done anything but bring it home and set it in the garage,  so here he was without power, wife and 5 kids gettin unsettled with no lights or tv.  so he said he decided to just hook er up,  took the panel off his breaker box and found the rooms he wanted and just wired her in,  Shocked   blew up 3 TV's and all the light bulbs that were switched on.  don't know exactly what he did but it musta been wrong.  Grin didn't start any fires or burn any wires up, just most everything that was plugged in,   he took his generator wires off,  hooked all the other wires like they were and shut the box till the real electric came back on.  Grin

reckon I might be able to buy a "used" generator cheap.   Grin

Any possibillity his genny was set up fer 220?  Hot leg on the neutral bar can be a real bummer.  It's a good bet the TV's suffered more than the machine.

That's kinda what I'm thinkin happened,  he said everything just popped,  this one of mine, I just run extension cords, we're usually only without power for a few hours a year, this has been unusual for up here.  I'll run a heavy extension cord from the generator to a heavy duty back up battery pack for the computer, then I plug into that and plug the TV into that to run it,  it does away with any ups or downs of the generator,  puts out a good sine wave for everything.

over across the road for the water pump, it takes 240V,  I've got an extension cord made up for it, about #6 or 8 wire, about 20 feet of it,  I just connect it to my pressure switch after I take off the regular line and plug it in the generator,  runs it just fine.

I don't know yer neighbor, but some folks shouldn't be messin around in panels.  The lack of burnt wires would lead to the ider that he pumped the wrong voltage inta a 110 circuit.  Lower amp draw, but man what a punch ta the ol' Sony Shocked
Yer set up sounds dern near fail safe.  The good ol' KISS method.

we've been thinkin about gettin a diesel house unit to have power up here, seems like the diesel uses less fuel than most of the fuels.  most of the time when we lose power it's in the spring,  them storms comin through do us more damage. probably wouldn't run it much but it sure is unhandy when the power goes off.
our diesel unit down at the barns comes on every Monday morning, runs for 30 minutes, checks itself and then shuts off, if the power goes off it starts up automatically and runs till the power has been on for about 5 minutes, then shuts itself back off. sure is handy.

I have thought about a generator, but this house we bought three years ago has the power panel on the outside of the house right next to the meter (without a lock on it where anyone can walk up and trip the main breaker), but the closest I could get the generator is about 50 ft  away.
The good news is no one has tried to break the lock I put on the panel, and we haven’t had a power outage here in the time we’ve owned the house that has lasted more than less a minute.  I think I’ve only had to reset the clocks once, other than the DST time changes.
Fingers crossed!!!!
