Cimarron 1897
« on: December 27, 2008, 06:46:58 PM »
This looks like the place to ask. I want an 1897. I dont compete, I just shoot stuff. Texas jack has a cimarron 97 for $505 plus shiping and transfer. Who makes it? What are the pros and cons? Fit and finish? It says it takes choke tubes but what does it use? Rem chokes? If you have one feel free to post pics. Thanks for any help.

Heres a link.

Howdy 102511 (that your prisoner number?  ;D )
The '97 from Cimarron is made by TTN.  When they first came out a few years ago some of the features were supposed to be American screw threads, chrome lined bore, and the choke (one choke included, not sure which one) and I was told it took "standard" chokes, whatever that means.  Whether the current production still have those features, I don't know.  I really don't know much about '97's.  Maybe someone else will chime in.  Good luck.

TTN used to have a website, but it has been down for a pretty good while.  Don't know if they plan to restore it or not.  Cimarron has pretty much bought all their stock (marked TTN) and I think the next shipment of guns from China are supposed to be marked Cimarron.

Well I thought I ask about the new one marked made in Texas. Well here are some of the question I have

The gun look good but .

1. Can the safety thing of pushing the slide forward before opening the action can this be done away with.

2. Are they better then the one sold by IAC.

3. What choke tubes does it use.

4. Can this gun be slick up.
