I'm still pondering whether I want a Rodeo or an SAA from Long Hunter. Now this is important.
Does Jim Finch make that cylinder sing when you spin it? Wink
Can I special order a USFA through him or send him the special order? Roll Eyes
I'm asking because I want to get two premium SAA's with nickel-plated backstraps and triggerguards. Shocked
Can't wait!

Those will probably be special order items.

If you go see this thread here...

http://www.cascity.com/forumhall/index.php/topic,22094.0.html

These two "small caliber" SAAs were ordered as "Longhunter Special SAAs".

He had to order them both as "special" (as he didn't stock either one of these calibers).

They came back to him rather promptly (although the .22 took ~1 month longer) where he worked his magic on them and they came to me, probably as fast as if I'd had a local dealer order them directly from USFA.

Ordering through Longhunter didn't really seem to delay anything in the least, and the cost was about the same as buying them through my dealer.  It was almost like getting the Longhunter action job & Rear Sight widening for FREE! Cheesy

Well that answers the special order question, but what about that cylinder cycle?
Does he make it "sing"?

I'll echo everything said by Grogan - and he made mine sing!  I ordered 2 Premium SAA's a few months ago and they are like nothing else I've ever had the pleasure of shooting.  You can't go wrong with Long Hunter.  He'll check out the guns from USFA and make sure they are up to snuff.  In my case, he found what he called a "slight blemish" on the barrel of one revolver.  He sent it back to USFA for rebluing and the entire extra time was about one week.  I wouldn't buy from anyone else.

Well Aggie, that settles it. Long Hunter it is! Wink

Sixgun,

FWIW, if you want your Rodeo in a caliber other than 45 LC or 357, USFA will do so for an extra charge.  I don't think this is commonly known, but Banjoman (USFA Sales Manager) told me that in a phone conversation before I purchased mine.

You'll love them no matter what caliber you choose!  Let us know how it goes.

I have never owned gunz as close to perfection as the LH SAs.  I asked him about different calibers in the Rodeo and he suggested it was a 100 dollar upcharge -- therefore, making the Rodeos very close to the cost of SAs by the time the dust settled.  If you compare one of Jim's USFA gunz against any other Colt's type at a match, you'll say the same thing I do -- there is no other gun available that is this smooth, light, and well finished.  I have a sense that he is one of, if not THE high volume dealer in USFA gunz.  So, he can probably get stuff more efficiently than others might be able to.  Super guy to deal with -- professional, honest, helpful.  I got a whole lot of gunsmithing for free when I bought USFA gunz from Longhunter.

Very encouraging information Gentlemen. When USFA releases the Remington 1875 I hope Long Hunter will work his magic on it.
