Tongue Tongue  I got the birdshead bug BAD!!! Tongue Tongue
Reckon I'm gonna have to order in 'nother pair of .44 mag K-Vaqueros in 4.62".
I got the hankerin' to put a pair of birdshead grip frames on 'em.
Ruger never did make the .44 Vaq's with them gripframes. Angry  Not popular enough, I reckon.
They only done .357's & .45's, far as I know.

Anyone order any RUGER-built birdshead gripframes lately?  I have heard they are awful tight wit' lettin' 'em out.

I heard a rumor that since the New Vaquero has hit the market, that Ruger is going to quit making the Vaquero in .44 & .45.  You know if there's any truth to this?

From what I've read (on the BBs) the 44 mag will continue in the old style Vaquero.  I've not bothered to confirm that..

FYI and FWIW Smiley

Howdy. I don't have good news to share.

I just got off the phone with Ruger's Corporate Headquarters.

ALL of the old model Vaqueros have been discontinued. ALL fixed sight revolvers have been discontinued for the new line, which is being produced in .45 and .357 calibers. There are NO plans to produce the New Vaquero in .44.
The woman I spoke to in sales would not allow me to quote her, at the direction of her boss. Her boss is out of town and won't be back until Feb 22.

She said there are some still in stock, but once those are gone, that's it.

 Sad

Aw, Hext, I had heard the same thing, that's why I decided to check on it. She was reasonably pleasant, but firm, until I asked if I could quote her. She said I could, then asked if I was a writer going to publish an article, and I said no, I just wanted to get the info out to Ruger's Cowboy shooters on the internet. That's when she pretty much clammed up, got short with me and said I couldn't quote her and that bit about her boss. Ayep, she got a mite touchy when I said I was going to spread the word.

Hey. I'm glad you checked..
I've got one pair of RVBs and I'm happy with them.  I don't know about the wisdom of the Ruger decisions, but it ain't my call.  Good to have good info.

Adios,

It's not really surprising.  CAS'ers are probably the primary purchasers of the fixed sight version.  Lots of hunters and bullseye shooters buy the adjustable sight guns.

Betcha it's the same gal I talk to whenever I call in to customer support. Tongue
I know they are dropped from the line up.  Angry
So I wanna buy me another 4.62" pair (maybe even a K-Bisley Vaquero pair) soon.
We don't shoot no .357's nor .45's 'round here.

So if I understand correctly, the Ruger Vaquero is no more, and the New Vaquero won't have fixed sights.  AND not in .44.  Has somebody at Ruger lost their freakin' marbles?Huh  Bill would have never let this happen.

Close, Ornery. The New Vaquero has fixed sights, but is available only in .45 and .357.
