Howdy Mo,
Beautiful work on your Scabbard! I'll bet that pistol is a lot of fun to shoot and accurate too.

Howdy Santee,
Those are some good looking Holsters you have made there. The finishes give them a very nice period look. It is not uncommon for me to occasionally make something over several times before I'm satisfied with the result.

Many thanks to you Gents for sharing your work with us.

Dave, that's some more beautiful work. The lapis goes nicely with the stingray. They both have somewhat similar visual elements. Nicely done.

Howdy Pards.
Being new to this forum, but even more 'cause here I'm in the midst of so many talented Leathersmiths makes me a little reluctant to show you my first ever leatherwork. (well... that's not really true; longgggg time ago in primary school I had to make a purse or something with leather and lace but I messed up that one...)  :-[

A couple of months ago I got me a Ruger New Vaquero and needed a holster and belt for it. Because the prices overhere (The Netherlands) are steep and/or the leatherwork not to my likings I began thinking about making my own. Discovering this forum turned out to cost me a lot of sleep; reading hour after hour often far past midnight.  ::)

Recently I decided to go for it and bought a large piece of leather, some basic tools (swivelknive and stitchgroover), some needles and waxed thread.
I drew the pattern myself, started cutting, sewing and rivetting and within a week the holster and belt were ready to be soaked in my homecooked dye.  8)

Not wanting to make things too complicated the firtst time I wanted it to look (to me at least) like a workingclass holster and belt, pure simple.
I think I succeeded in that; not too fancy looking and the color turned out exactly like I wanted it to be.
Yep; I'm very pleased with the end result.  ;D

So.. here she is... made by me with a lot of your help.

Well, its been a while since I was on the forum and to say you guys have all been busy would be the understatement of the year.
Beautiful, Beautiful work by everyone. its gonna take me a week of just looking to take in all the details of the articles you guys have made.
Just so you will know that I have not quit doing leatherwork here are a couple of ball flasks I did recently. The rest of my time has been spent on powder horns, salt horns, a shot horn and lord knows how many powder measures and pan brushes.  But , it is always good to get back here and look at what the real masters are doing. You guys never cease to amaze me with your creativity and execution. Don't ever stop.

Cool Flasks GB! Good to see ya back pard! Man those are really neat!

Do you wet mold the pieces over a mold or a form of some type, then stitch em together, or are they stitched then molded somehow?

Rick, you mean make it in the paper somewhere other than in the police log????  ;D

Amin  and Rick, Thanks for the kind words Pards.
Amin, these were sewn and then soaked and packed with #8 shot to shape them. You have to keep packing it in till you wonder if yer stitching is going to hold ??? ;D

OK, BH, here's what you do. Make another test holster, left strongside this time. Then all you need is a belt and you have one fine rig. Nice work.

Pete, your rig came out really good. Very clean and finished looking. The color is perfect. I've tried for that a couple times and missed the mark a little each time. You nailed it. You have good reason to feel good about that. Welcome to the forum. It'll be nice to see more of your stuff.

KT, that's quite a collection you have going. All of it is impressive stuff. Thanks for the pics.

BG, those molded ball flasks are really cool. They look very usable and have a nice look about them. Good idea to use the shot to mold them. Darn good work on those.
