I'll accept it even if it was only assembled in America.

Yup ;D

Didn't ever heard of that one (you'll admit it's an odd name for automobile). So I had to check it out.

LOL!!!!!!! Naw.

In the werds of our local, from New York, talk show host, they were built in ‘The Jersey’.

He was also in ‘The Nam’. Claims ta be a former Marine. I doubt it. Used ta brag he was in the rear with the gear. When the middle east thing started he was in the heat of combat ‘n he knew what killin’ was.

Been around a lot of Viet Nam vets. I ain’t never heard it referred to as ‘The Nam’.

With my habit of always fallin in with folks a bit older than me I have been around a lot of Vets.  2 of em were door gunners, one a Crew Chief, a recon guy and so on.  Not one of them used that expression.  They either called the country by it's name or said Nom, but never Nam.
I imagine Hollywierd irritated the hell out of all those guys.

Called it simply 'Nam.  THE 'Nam is phony.

Heard something at the VA clinic a couple of weeks ago the was common then, but sounds strange now:  "When were you 'in country'?"

The guy is a phony ‘n a coward. Admitted several times, on the air, he doesn’t comment on local issues ‘cause he doesn’t wanna get fired.

One of my favorite tales, true. TalkFest a few years ago. Boortz is doin’ his show on stage, live. A sidekick gets on stage ‘n introduces himself. Boortz was as polite as he’s able ta be, which ain’t much. Told him it was nice meetin’ ‘im but he wanted to meet the booger-eatin’, bed-wettin’ program director. Same clown.

I wasn’t ten feet away from ‘im. He was wearin’ a yellow suit with a blue tie ‘n wore his hair in a greasy duck tail then. ‘Bout 5’6” 145. Stood there with his mouth hangin’ open.

When the socialist, Alan Colmes, got on stage he ran right up there waggin’ his l’il tail ‘n peein’ on himself like a l’il puppy. Most of the crowd left. Boortz hasn’t been invited back.

Remember, this is an italian what thinks arugula is pasta ‘n we lost aircraft carriers in the attack on Pearl.

A Marine? I’d have to see his DD-214.

I'm afraid if I lived out there in Va, I would have to call that "squirrel" out.

Thumbs, you're doin' great.  Keep it up.  The next few weeks I'm gonna be on strange schedules, so it's yours.

Found two very exciting things in LA on Wednesday:

House of Pies at 1869 N. Vermont Ave.  Best peach pie I've eaten in 45 years.  Used to be a place in Willard, Utah (Better peaches than anyplace in Georgia, and apples almost as good as the Yakima Valley.) called Jessie's.  They made the best I ever tasted....until Wednesday.  They've been out of business for many years now.  Damn freeway put them on a back road.  I've seen the time when semis were parked on both sides of US 89 for a quarter mile in both directions.

The cherry on top, though, was while we were finishing up a car pulled into the parking lot.  I just caught a glimpse, but told my wife I thought it was a mid-30s Chrysler Airflow.  Turned out to be a '34 DeSoto Airflow 4 door sedan.

www.conceptcarz.com/view/photo/234152,5913,0,0/photo.aspx  (Hope that fixed it.)

Absolutely marvelous unrestored condition.  Dark leaf-green paint is faded and worn, the fabric roof insert is pretty ragged, seats are covered in some generic plastic covers, but no major body damage and very little minor damage.  Chrome and paint need to be redone, one hubcap is creased, but it's in amazing shape and IT RUNS!

It's not for sale.  The guy's granddad bought it new and he's saving it for his own grandson who is thirteen now.

I love Cars. I've been a gearhead all my life. My Dad was a mechanic most of his adult life and I grew up around garages. Those Chrysler Airflows were way ahead of their time with the styling.

Yes they were, but they almost couldn't give them away.  I think they were only on the market a couple of years.

Remember the "sharknose" Grahams?  One of my frat brotheres ahd a superchaged Graham (Hollywood?), about a 1936-1938 model.  When that 'charger kicked in it would really wake up the chickens.  Fantastic looking car.

It had to be. It was mostly made from stuff bought from Cord (at least the outside).

And I already knew this, didn't have to google up.  ::)
