Spring Buffalo (long range) shoot
« on: August 27, 2008, 11:22:45 AM »
The folks at Jim Bell western store in Cottonwood Falls KS. (who are now carring traditional old west clothing) have contacted me to help with putting on a buffalo type shoot in the Flint Hills near C. F. I would really like to get this type of shoot going again after the one put on by the KMA near Marion died. In fact I would welcome anyone interested in long range Single shot rifles to contact me if interested. The KVC has some targets that will be used, but could sure use some more. They also want to have a Victorian Ball Sat night, and a chuck wagon for meals. they really want to go all out. If you are at all interested in getting a L. R. type buffalo shoot going again in the real buffalo country please contact me.        jt

Do they have a definite location?

And a preferred date?

We can always make some sheet rock buffalo again.

What are you calling "Long Range"
200yrds or 600yards?
Our club does a 200 yard buffalo Silhouette shoot once or twice a year that is always popular.  The targets are steel buffalo that are about 12inches by about 18inches.  100yards offhand and 200 yards from crossed sticks.  exposed hammer rifles and lead bullets only.
BTW our next one is Oct 12th.

Our buff shoots usually run 200-400 yds
I guess some don't consider it long range unless it's over 900.

Talked to some of the instrumental folks yesterday. Looks like this will be a GO for the last weekend in April 2009. I am going to look at the site in 2 weeks. there will be at least two heards to shoot, Some must be knocked down to count ,others will only need to be hit. There will also be a .22 cal single shot side match. Watch for more info as things progress.

Even if you did not pre-register, you can still come and register the day of the shoot. PM me if you need directions to the buffalo range.    jt
