Is anyone using one of the Reprodution scopes
« on: August 21, 2008, 01:16:13 PM »
I was wondering if anyone on here was using one of the recplia Malcom scopes on they guns, and if so how do they work?
I have allways loved the looks of a 32" brass scope on a Sharps!
I would like to hear from anyone that has one or has had one, or knows someone that does or has!
Thanks

Ace      I have one of the Montana Vintage Arms scopes, exclent,Ive seen  and shot one of the chineese copys ,not bad optics, has more eye relief than the MVA.Now for the bad news, the mounts that were on the frinds rifle,at that time would work for a hunting rifle, but if target shooting or BPCR,forget it . Thats just my opinion,I have heard the manufacture was working on some version of a target mount, dont know if they have or not ,and the reapeatability of the mount.                Adios  Sgt. Jake

A friend of mine has one of the 4 power, 17" on a 22 Stevens Walnut Hill.  As for repeatability, he uses it for our 22 silhouette matches.  When he sighted it for the various ranges out to 200 yards he merely used a dial calipers to measure the distance and wrote down the measurement.  All he has to do is move the sight to the required height and fire away.  It works fine that way.  It would be nice if it had target type mounts but his way is okay.

I have an RHO. I really like it, but the waiting list is long and it cost almost as much as the rifle.

:) i want to thank all of you Pards for the answers you all have gave me, I  bought a Lyman model 438 brass barrel 14" long not bad looking in the picture, and the mounts were liveable, I bought this off Max T. France who sells on Guns.Inter. web site, when I got the scope it was drap green, not brass as the picture showed, I emailed him, and ask if he boxed the wrong scope, he said NO and if I didn't like it send it back! Of course I will loose $15.00 in shipping, so i kept it, took it all apart, and it isn't a Lyman, I don't know what or who made it! So beware if you are dealing with Max T. France, because you might not get hat you see in the picture and advertised!!

Just wanted to let youguys know this!
