Roper .41 caliber rifle. Very scarce rifle with 98% blue, 40-50% nickel & 95% varnish on stock. Really neat rifle. Lots of shotguns around, but no rifles! $8,750.00

I read they tested the rifle at 20 rods so I looked it up. 1 rod equals 5 1/2 yards. That would be 110 yards. I wonder when the use of the word rod when out of style?
Common pistol cartridge no. 30? Small caliber rimfire ammunition? Was this the same as the 41 short rimfire used in the Remington derringers?
Our language has changed some, employed mechanics instead of gunsmiths. They also imported the barrels as a cost saving then.

I read there was a 41 Roper rifle cartridge, listed here:

But I think it was a self contained cartridge ignited by a percussion cap?
