Wish it was cool here......................
'This track's so big they need multiple spotters..........................'
Translation: The track has so much stuff in the infield one can only see a small portion of the racing surface.
The track is the same length as Daytona and smaller than Talladega.
Thank you, talkin' heads.

I was sorry to hear that 5 time won and WW finished 5th. I was glad to see Junebug finish 4th and take over the points lead.

Our economy effects ticket sales directly. It's easier to watch on TV, a lot cooler inside, and the grub is cheaper.

That's been my argument goin' back to beginnin' of the slump. Cost a pile this day 'n time 'n folks ain't got the disposable income.
The others, I'm thinkin', do make valid points on the quality of the racin', the rips for concession foods as well as the general costs - gas, lodgin' 'n such.

Takin' a break from dinner prep........
Can't find many rooms close to Bristol. Motel 6 did list their rates although they have no rooms available. One night, two folks for Friday, $224.99 for the motel 4 miles away. The one in Johnson City, 20 miles out, $149.99. I reckon tax is an add on ya ain't seein'. That's the way they do things it the ocean front.
The weekend before, no activities, $64.99 'n $54.99 respectively. In my never humble opinion, that's a rip.
Cheapest ticket I see is $114.00 for the cup race. Pit pass, $2,178.00. Each.
Mebbe just a bad attitude on my part, but I can buy a lot of gun stuff for those kinda numbers 'n watch on TV.
NASCAR said they were gonna meet with the motel folks to try'n do something about it. Ain't all their fault but the bottom line in the checkbook or credit card balance is the same.............................
Back ta werk.

I've been to TMS, TWS, and Indy. I live close to TMS, so no motel needed. The costs were less back then and I could go to INDY. I had free tickets to the race, but responsible for the trip up there and all other expenses. Texas World Speedway was the cheapest. We drove there and back, the tickets weren't too expensive, and the motels were reasonably priced. I had free tickets to TMS as long as my friend was alive, that stopped when he drowned. You can really see more of the racing when you watch it on TV.

Apart from Richmond we’ve always stayed somewhere.
It’d be ‘bout $130.00 in gas for the station wagon here ta Bristol ‘n back.
Fast food holes were usually the same price as off weekends – if ya could get in. Nicer restaurants run their prices up for higher profits ‘n ta keep the dregs out. Hit those when the fat lady went. Any fast food hole we could get inta when it was just the guys.
Gettin’ the first VCR broke me from goin’. I’d tape it ‘n watch it when I got back home. Saw stuff I missed watchin’ it live.

ARCEY, The VCR was a great invention. I've got a bunch of old races, 20 years ago, stored in a box in the garage. I don't own a VCR anymore. I do my taping on my Satellite Dish recorder now.

The Dinger only had a one year deal with Penske, with a possible extension, based on his performance this year. The team had enough bad press and Penske knew it was time to move on. I don't think that Hornish is a long-term fix. After news release happens on where Kenseth goes, the chess game will begin.

When the B sample came back positive it was only a matter of time for the press release saying everyone had done a terrific job ‘n couldn’t be happier with the way things were goin’, but…………………………………………..
Bring the werd file up ‘n change the dates ‘n names. I kept a disk in my brief case when I was werkin’, all formatted for the department’s letter head with the same generic one paragraph resignation letter on it.
Hornish been with Penske forever. If nothin’ else they know each other well. All Penske has to do is convince Shell he can be competitive in cup cars. Popular opinion is he’s as good as he’s ever gonna be.
Heard reported Allmendinger ‘n Speed been feudin’ since they was kids in go carts. The former can complete rehab ‘n go after the latter's start-‘n-park rides next year. Either will be pumped ‘n very excited ta be drivin’ Pluto Racin’s Ford, sponsored Fred’s Lawn Service.

They won't let me bring my wrecker to the tracks to help with the towing. My wrecker is a 38 Ford 2dr Sedan with the back end cutoff with a hand crank winch. Folks with those factory built wreckers just make fun of me. That was my Dad's first wrecker when he opened his garage and wrecker service in 46.
