I would like to see Junebug win this year, but don't rule out Stewart or Harvick. Engine temps will play a big part today in the draft. The big one will happen today, hopefully it won't take out the cars that are leading. The Fords have been running cooler and seem to have plenty of power.

I'll be able to watch the race tomorrow without having to watch the replay tomorrow night. One nice thing about being retired is that you have a lot of time on your hands. Victoria will prolly sleep through the race unless I holler about something and wake her up.

Messy race but I guess that is half the fun. Feel sorry for the proven racers that have bad stuff happen so early on.

Jet fuel is highly flammable and it burns fast and hot. The truck driver and Montoya could have been "crispy critters" without the work of the safety crews. The fabricators will be busy for a couple of weeks after the 500.

Big News today! Penske will switch back to Fords in 2013, leaving Robby Gordon as the lone Dodge driver. I haven't heard about the statis of the Dodge truck teams.

Chrysler bailed on factory support of the trucks a couple years ago. Those runnin’ the things are runnin’ scraps ‘n left overs.
Gordon runs what’s cheapest for ‘im. He was gettin’ his Chrysler stuff time ‘fore this from Evernham. That’s where the unapproved nose he got dinged for come from. He’ll probably try’n strike a deal for used stuff from Roush, Gibbs er the thief - if he keeps messin’ with it at all.
Be curious if there’s gonna be a connection twix Roush ‘n Penske or if Penske’s gonna be doin’ their own R&D.

That's a good question. I figger that at first they will rely on Roush-Yates, the R&D will come soon after. I think Penske made up his mind on Ford when he saw the 2013 Ford unveiled.

The 62 Fords had 406s. The 63 Fords started with 427s with 2 4s. Nascar made them use one 4 barrel rated at 410 hp. the drag race model with 2 4s was rated at 425 hp. The HP version of the 406 had 3 2 barrels and was rated at 405 Hp.
