They is too well dressed to be the owners. Not sufficient representation of bib-overalls.
The still looks like a good 2-stage system. From what I can see, it looks like the large metal thing to the far right is the water boiler. Steam goes through the copper line to the barrel to the left (copper top on it - sometimes called a "thumper" because of the sound from steam bubbles forming and condensing inside it) which holds the mash. When it gets hot enough from the steam, the alcohol vapor will travel through the diagional line to the "worm" or condenser coil in the third barrel. This sort of still was harder to build and tougher to deal with than a single stage still but it did not produce methanol or "wood alcohol" as a single stage still could where the mash was directly heated by the fire. Looks like someone was taking a little pride in their work.
RE Blackberry Brandy:
I have at least two recipes for making any sort of fruit brandy. Never heard it used as a cure for "the trots" though.
