1876 Winchester Carbine 45-60 WCF
« on: January 11, 2008, 10:43:07 AM »
I have one of the misspelled Charles Daily  Chaparral 1876 NWMP Carbines from CDNN Sports Abiline Texas.

When I ordered the gun CDNN said they were 45-60 WCF. I told the guy I was talking to that they do not make a Carbine in 45-60 and they had to be marked wrong. I told him if they are 45-60 send me one.

The gun arrived Jan 7,2008, .......... and "Yes Virginia There is a Santa Clause "

It is listed on the box as a Model 1876 Musket, Caliber 45-60, Barrel Length 22"

The gun has the standard ladder rear sight instead of the Spanish Military rear sight and The stock is not stamped with "NWMP"

The only problem I have found is the fireing pin hit on the primer is a little off center. [ Have not had any misfires ]

So it is true there are some Chaparral 1876 Winchester Carbines made in 45-60 WCF.  CDNN said they had 6 when I ordered mine.

Wow, looks great! :)  Good news for those looking for the carbine in 45-60.  The sight is correct for the standard SRC.

Check the face of the bolt and see if it has the cartridge rim support on the bottom.  If not, you can get a replacement that does, and that may take care of the off center hits on the primer.

Congratulations on your new carbine!

That is a great looking carbine!  I just wish that they would use WALNUT instead of that darned mystery wood that they CALL "Italian Walnut".  (BTW, "Italian Walnut" seems to be code for "Beech".)   :P

I can see it now, I'm going to have to get me one of these!  "Crossfire Trail" is one of my all-time favorite Westerns!

Chaparral still does not show the SRC in 45-60.  So far the only examples I am aware of are the misspelled Charles "Daily" - and CDNN has/had very few.  Could end up a rare bird.  If you are interested, you may want to give them a shout, because at the bargain prices (about half!) they are selling them at they won't last long! :)
