Hoof Hearted is a Remington Lover!  I am probably going to make a new holster for mine.  Now I just have to decide on what to do.  Should it be a slim jim or loop holster?  Basket weave, Texas Star Carving, or plain?  Fringe or no fringe?  Concho or no concho?  Go ahead Hoof Hearted help me decide what to carry my Remington '58 and '75 in.

As mentioned earlier, I use Beeswax and Crisco.  If I want it stiff more Beeswax, and if I want it softer more Crisco.

Yup!  50/50 is a good starting point.  I use a scale and measure out a pound of each.

Wow..............
Woke a couple of ya up Grin

Dutchie

My recipe is close to TT's except I add some pure neatsfoot oil (some use Canola or Safflower oil). Lotta folks use a double boiler, I use a Folgers plastic coffee can in the microwave. I ladle it into thuse "sandwich" meat plastic re-sealable tupperware things (with the red lid). Make it 1/2 to 3/4 inch thick, it'll cool fast. Then pop it out and separate with wax paper. This way you can break off chunks to remelt and pour in your Lyman lubrisizer. Mix up a batch, spoon out a little and let it cool to try. If it is too soft or too hard add corresponding ingedient to change. Toilet rings are not beeswax! It's really simpler than it looks.............just remember:

If you can't eat it.......don't use it!

Holsters.............
How'd you know I have a FULL leather shop?

My preference is what I made Walt Kirst:

Kind of a "Cheyenne" style slim jim with internal metal stiffener. Border tooled the old style.
Belt made outta Silk Fire hose with a Square buckle and leather billets.

You probably want it stiffer (more beeswax).

I also double boil, but I am going to start trying to make sticks instead of putting it in Mason Jars.

Barbarosa,

Very nice cased sets.  Wink

I like that rig for the original conversion. Is it a shorter barreled Rem?

Just had Doug Prudden make one for .75 Rem with tooling in the manner of Jesse James'  Schofield holster.

I guess I should now have him make a cartridge belt for it.
