Just ordered mine to go with my 73's! Being a 44-40 fan, I was not sure what caliber to get, so I chose 45-60 so I might be able to hunt deer in Ohio if they add it to the approved straight wall list someday. Can't wait to get it!

Please add me to the list.

Uberti 1876 in 45-60, 28" barrel.  Fun to load and shoot.  Just need a better rear sight.  My eyes aren't what they once were.

I was feeling guilty about buying this gun, but after seeing so many proud members here, I feel vindicated.  Sign me up!  I just came home from the Allentown Gun Show with a Uberti '76, in .50-95 with 28" bbl.
I'm usually more of an antique military gun guy, and so is the dealer who was set up behind me at the show.  But he happened to have this '76 sitting on one of his tables, that he had taken in trade. I didn't pay much attention to it, until a lull in the show when I picked it up to stem the boredom.  Once I saw that big, .50 cal. muzzle, and hefted it to my shoulder to peer down that long, 28" barrel sight plane, I knew I wasn't going home without it.  I even got right on my phone and bought dies and brass then and there.  Can't wait to shoot it!

Congrats - you have yourself a fine rifle! May I suggest that you read the "loading data for the 50/95 WCF" thread to get off to a good start. Slug the bore before ordering bullets or a mold. That will save you a lot of aggravation.

Thank you.  I did indeed read that thread.  I was actually rather disappointed that guys were reporting results with 3" to 4" groups at 50 yards and expressing their satisfaction.  I would not consider that acceptable accuracy from any brand-new rifle.  Surely there are better loads to be found.  It also seems like guys are coddling this gun, and perhaps thinking about it too closely to an original.

There's an article by Ken Kempa in Guns & Ammo Jan. 2010 in which he tests various smokeless handloads, mostly using Barnes jacketed soft points ranging from 300 to 450 grains, at velocities ranging from about 1,360 to 2,120 fps., and getting 50-yard groups ranging from 2.25" to 0.75".  According to his calculations, none of these loads exceeds the recommended pressures for this gun or cartridge.  Of course, he's evaluating this rifle for its potential as a serious hunting rifle (with high marks to it for that), rather than for CAS shooting.  But if it can easily handle driving a 450-grain jacketed bullet at almost 1,600 fps, I don't see why some guys are getting so cautious about putting a few extra grains of Trail Boss or of 3F Swiss behind a 350-grain soft lead bullet.

Thank you very much Mr Dusty Texian.  The great problem is that I don't know how add photos.I must learning that soon.
So I have found a wonderfull Winchester 1866, n° 166XXX from 1889 in .44 rim fire. This rifle is for me (new)the bore is fantastic.
The price was reasonable(?)5k.What i don't understand is why Winchester still made .44 henry rim fire in 1889 and not 44-40 CF.
This is maybe the reason that this rifle is pratically new.
You see that I'm a Winchester fan.about 1995, I was in Canada(for fishing)and I have found a wonderfull Winchester 73 in 44-40
with half octogonal barrel from 1884.I have also a Win 94 in 30-30 from 1913,french military modell , and 2 commemo (1 Wells Fargo, and 1120 years anniversary from 1986.And many hunting rifles.I'm now an old retired hunter.
Have a good day and mery Christmass for you and all American people that I love.
