Bar 20 Brand
« on: November 25, 2007, 11:55:01 PM »
If my memory is still working, Hopalong Cassidy's ranch was the Bar 20.  What did his brand look like?  I want to work it into a box that I made to carry my personal items to campouts/reenactments.

Hoppy was my hero when I was knee high to a grasshopper.

Mild Will:

Yep, his ranch was the Bar 20 and the brand looked like this:

I did a quick Google search looking for something showing the brand .... turned up a Collectables
Gallery listing for a linoleum Hopalong Cassidy playmat, and cropped this detail from the online pictures of it:

If you need a playmat ... ;) ... here is a link to the listing:

Thank you, Rattlesnake Jack:

I had Googled a week or so ago with no results.  Guess I should have been more patient.  I agree the old gang at the Bar 20 has gotten pretty grey.  Still wish I had my Hoppy Radio and dinnerware. and my sixguns  and my outfit and hat  and the balls to wear it all and kick on the screen door of the corner cafe and yell "Open up, I'm Hopalong Cassidy".

Cordially yours, Mild Will

I am glad stuff like this comes up. I had totally forgotten that about Hoppy's ranch. I especially
forgot about the brand. I Ebayed a 33 1/3 record I had played as a kid of a Hoppy story with
Lucky and Windy. I wasn't sure it was still good and I had a return offer on the deal. A lady bought
it and emailed me that it played perfectly. I was glad of that, but I haven't had a player for that
album for many a year. No 8 track any  more either  ;D
I guess I am dating myself.
I have been buying tickets for a Hoppy gunrig that Happy Trails is raffling off for Roy and Dales kids.
It is a beauty and made by Bianchi. I probably have $80 worth of tickets for that raffle now. I need
more though and it comes with a couple new Colts too.

I didn't watch the TV show much, but I have read all the Hopalong Cassidy books.  The Hoppy in the books is nothing like the character Boyd played on TV.

Hoppy just worked on the Bar20, he didn't own it.

I have at least 4 Hoppy DVD's with 5 movies each. I have not seen the brand in any of those movies.
Like Grizzle bear said, "he didn't own it." Buck Peters owned the Bar20.
