Got back from LR at 5pm. It was HOT but manageable since there was some shade. Only about 10 shooters.  I had hoped to give out the NC SASS awards I brought home but was only able to give three. Came home with the rest.  Next time....

TT, I have been heavily engaged with OPSAIL 2012.  I got to be the USCG Unified Commander of the event and had duties pretty much from 30 May through today for the safety and security of the port and all the ships.

I am so ready for a decent amount of sleep and once rested will be figuring out when I can get a shoot in...

I have a family fathers day event this weekend or I would probably be shooting with ya'll.

I need to get Cardinal Wind to the range more to get her practice time in and build up her little arm muscles!:)

Wahooooooooooooo the Posse -  I am home again - whacky weekend with last minute tent saga and my truck going kaput friday night.

Luckily everying is better today.

Celebrated my parents 55th anniversary and family/friends reunion.

One of my nieces asked that I bring some firepower, so she shot some 38 spl and 43 spanish BP loads and some 22lr out of my gsg!

Making some 12 guage dummies up for practicing. (Yeah that's gettin' a bit gamey)  Was going to fill the primer pockets with some silicon sealer but what I had had gone bad. Need to stop at the hardware and get a new tube.  You'd thunk it would stay good in a sealed tube for 5 years.

Went by the Horse n Pony show here yesterday afternoon, felt sorry for 'm in the 104°. Top that off had a big storm blow thru at dark.

If you all are shootin' this weekend take plenty of fluids with ya.

Well - seems this big ole container ship coming from NY/NJ is calling upon my port...

I am working at least saturday and may spend some time working sunday...c'est la vie.

Drink plenty of liquids, eat stuff that gets them electrolytes back into you, wear light clothes if possible and find shade when you can.

MM and I shot our annual quals with the department yesterday - it was scorching!!  One guy ended up at the hospital with heat exhaustion.  He asked me before he left how MM and I do it every weekend and I told him that if this was a cowboy shooting day, we wouldn't have shot.  Both clubs cancelled their shoots this weekend and for that I am glad.  I love to shoot, but sometimes ya just gotta use common sense.....  We drink a lot during a shoot, but somedays you just can't keep up. 

And with that in mind, MM is NOT going to put a new roof on our shed this weekend.....

Pards, drink plenty of fluids and eat small frequent meals.  I love ya'll and want ya to stay healthy!!

I will say a lighter blue uniform would be useful today; however, we don't have folks shotting back at us and we are not miles away from home.

Hope everyone has a safe weekend and that the storms did not cause any of our pards and pardettes and damage.

BTW I am in discussion with Badwater Bill on Cardinal Wind's rig...she will have two pistolas and a rifle for State. I think we will just have her take misses for the shotgun targets or use a rifle on them - her frame being so small...don't want to dissuade her as she is wanting more and more to shoot with me.

PR I believe it's Cabelas that offers a 12 ga to 410 conversin kit for single shot and double barrels. I have seen a youngin' up in Maryland use one. He was only 10 or so and pretty good with it. Still knocking targets down.
