A Thanksgiving Present
« on: November 27, 2004, 04:53:30 PM »
No wonder I call him "Wonnerful Hubby"!!!!!
He got me a new shotgun for Thansgiving.  It's for trap, not cowboy.  I just started shooting trap this year, but I was using one of my cowboy shotguns.  I'd get real excited if I got into double digits (as in 10 hits out of 25).  I don't like the O/U style and most modern shotguns look bulky and sort of ugly to me, so I turned down the ones we would see at gun shows or in the shops.

This is an Ithaca model 37 pump in 16 ga.  It was made in the '40's and it is in really nice shape.  I really like 16 ga.  It's not ugly.  I like it.

" If it loads here, where do they come out?"
Hubby laughed.   It loads and ejects from the same place.  I haven't taken it apart yet to see how that works.
Points nice, moves nice, it's light enough for me to manage and WH cut it down so it fits me.  When we went to the range today -- WOW!  I just kept bustin' them clays!

A fancy coat AND a new shotgun? He really is good to you.

I can see it now, pretty soon you'll be shooting in the low 20's and will be lording it over everybody.
That’s bad business! How long do you think I’d stay in operation if it cost me money every time I pulled a job? If he’d pay me that much to stop robbing him, I’d stop robbing him.

Ya probably inherited every penny ya got!

In my mind the 37 was the pinnacle of shotgun design. I have on in 20 and love it. I want one in 16.

I was at Cabela's in Owatonna, MN on Nov. 24. They had 6 or 7 of them. I might have to acquire one someday.
