.45 S&W Schofield Cartridge Boxes - Mint Condition!
« on: June 06, 2007, 03:50:03 AM »
Hello BOSS,

I received permission from David Chicoine of http://www.oldwestgunsmith.com/ to post the following photos and text of two mint .45 Schofield Cartridge boxes for informational purposes only.

Two Flints

1) below; Some of the rarest Schofield cartridges in existence, an UNOPENED box of 12 cartridges! Marked "12 Revolver Ball CARTRIDGES Calibre, .45 Frankford Arsenal, 1875". Completely intact and sealed, notice the unused, attached pull string in the photo.
1. In the interest of its careful preservation, the box has been covered in (removable) clear mylar.
$1600.00

2) below, Some of the rarest Schofield cartridges in existence, one opened but full box of 12 cartridges. This is identical to the box above except the cardboard box was opened and very loose, a former owner has carefully re-glued the sides. Marked "12 Revolver Ball CARTRIDGES Calibre, .45 Frankford Arsenal, 1875". The cartridges have no headstamp, are inside primed and are in excellent condition.
1. In the interest of its careful preservation, the box has been covered in (removable) clear mylar.
$825.00

Thanks for the pics T.F.  The prices would suggest that it cost "someone" $775.00 to take a look at the rounds in the one box! :o  I still have a couple of inside-primed Schofields in my miniscule ammo collection; wonder what an empty box is worth today???
