This isn't a sad time or at least it should not be. As many of you know Kelley Rotgers, my daughter  and her husband are foster parents. On Friday, June 1st, the two little girls that they have had in their home for the past eight monthes will be going to live with their biological Mother. To say the least our hearts are all breaking. Yes I know we are not suppose to let ourselves get close to these kids, but that is impossible once you saw the girls.(Kelley had them with her at convention)
I ask that you all keep her and Shawn in your prayers and especially KaiCee and Trinity as they start a new page in their lives with their mother.

Kayleen:

My deepest sympathies for you, Kelley, the little ones and all the rest of your family.
Nothing in life can compare to losing a child -- no matter in what way they're gone.
My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

   Howdy Pards!

Growing up, my parents were foster parents as well to 13 over 20 years.
It is always hard when they leave.  (The first pair of sisters stayed for seven years.)
And doubly hard when they went "back" to less loving persons in less nice socio-economic circumstances, etc.

Kayleen,

Let me offer your daughter and her husband something from the other side of the coin that might help.

I was a foster child myself, and although I cannot speak for every foster child out there I can say that good foster parents left thier mark on my heart and my life forever. Nothing can ever take away the good things..period!!!!! No matter what the child goes to from there, the good things given by caring people are like the finest gold, it shines through everything! There may be times when it doesn't seem like it, but the love and caring will never be forgotten...and it will be passed on someday!

I know this to be true because I was every forster parents worst nightmare! I was the monster child/orphan who seemed to have no limits to my ability to be hateful, spiteful, vicious, and just plain cruel. But somehow I turned out ok, ( or so my wife claims)  You don't suppose that the people who tried to give me love, caring, and attention made a difference do you?

YER DAMNED RIGHT THEY DID!!!!!!

Tell that young couple that they made a difference and that those words come from one who has been there and done that!

(Someday we'll talk...you might find my experiance interesting)

Thank you everyone for all the kind words. As hard as this is for all of us, we do hold on to the fact that they have made a big mark on lives and we in turn hope to have left some very positive things with the girls.
Mick, you are correct in saying they go back to a  Mother that is unstable, finacially insecure and a past meth user.(Now rehabilitated) She does not have a job nor is she looking for one.
The hardest part is the six year old wants to be adopted and live in one clean place, and not moving all the time.
Prayer and a close family have helped and the friends  have been a God send.
Cuts, we must talk some time.
