Photos of my puppy, Jake!
« on: April 03, 2007, 05:24:30 PM »
Folks, I just want to share some photos of my little 8-month-old orange & white French Brittany, Jake.  This last Saturday I took Jake out to a hunting preserve near my home to give him some more experience on quail.  I've worked with him too little this winter but even with my lack of attention, little Jake is showing a lot of promise as a bird dog.  Jake is now backing the points of my 7-year-old black French Brittany, Lizzie.  When action is about to happen, Jake honors without moving.  Jake is classy in his points.  And he is beginning to retrieve.   My little Jake is showing a lot of promise at becoming a very satisfactory bird dog.

Jake is so much different in personality to Lizzie.  Lizzie is a very well behaved, lovable, calm natured dog that if I just scold her, she is bruised.  Jake, he's a good-time-Charlie!  "Let's have fun and romp and play!"  If I scold him, he sits and looks at me with this look of "Why are you upset with me?"  After what he thinks is an appropriate time of discipline, Jake is back to "Let's party!"  He is a hoot!

I know I'm boring some with my bragging on my puppy and for that I do apologize.

Here are some photos of my little buddy Jake.

I love Brits, and yours is beautiful, but we love our springer and  english setter. This is the setter puppy (11 mos) looking for birds on her daily run (she runs, I breath hard and try to keep up_.

GunClick, Jake's attention span only last, at best, five minutes during our training session.  Even when I try to make the training sessions play.

Doc, that is one beautiful setter.  My best friend of 32 years and long time hunting buddy, Tom, has a six-year-old Llewellyn setter.  By-the-way, what is all that white stuff your pup is standing in??
:P

Here's a picture of Jake when he first got home.  With Lizzie standing by, Momma is explaining to Jake the rules of Momma's house!

God bless,

Oh my gosh...
He is absolutely adorable. Makes my heart just smile all over... :)

And I bet you he still smells like a puppy.
Isn't it weird how puppies have that "puppie smell?"

I am very partial to Brittneys.. Have raised them for years...
He is beautiful Birdgun...
Don't be shy about posting more pictures.... (((((please??)))))

Birdgun, thanks. She's a sweetie. Those first minutes when the old meets the new are always anxious for us humans, but the dogs always seem to work it out.
This was 5 minutes into their meeting. The game was on and continues still. :)

Camille, just make sure you find a reputable breeder. We lost our previous setter, Daisy, and were determined to find another one. We had to go all the way to Ontario, Canada to find our pup (we live in WA state). We got a wonderful family member and made 2 new friends in Canada.

Yessir, that's what is making it so hard to find one.  They are all over the place but I refuse to buy from a puppy mill.

Here is Rowdy in Jan on our first trip out, he's gonna be a good one also.

I hunt some very heavy stuff fer them Chinese Chickens and like these big bruisers when they get close to 100 pounds. :o

"Course the other two Labs also like quail, Midnite brought 3 back one day at the same time. ;D

Del, love them labs also as most that I've hunted over had all the heart in the world.   Such sweet natured dogs are those labs!

Let's all share pictures of our canine buddies!

Here's a couple of pictures of my Lizzie.  She's a 7-year-old black & white French Brittany.  Lizzie is a sweetheart!

Lizzie and her bird in South Dakota 2005.  She found it, pointed it, and retrieved it.  All I had to do was just stand there and shoot it.
God bless,

Bird Gun,

Love the little "Britts"  The Mrs. says when our 16 yr. old dalmatian goes, I can look for a pup :-\

Right now the hard part is finding  a reputable breeder remotely local (North of San Francisco would be nice ;)).
Glad to see the younguns out on a hunt,  Does my heart proud to see others carying the torch.

Dell, that picture of the "pups" looks similar to my neice and her two fur sisters ;D
