Folks, the 2007 Western Writers of America annual Spur Awards list has been published. Legends did not win in either category it was considered for, nor was it a finalist in either category.
Best First Novel went to Alan Geoffrion’s Broken Trail, which also won Best Western Drama Script honors.
Best Long Novel (more than 90,000 words) went to Elizabeth Crook for The Night Journal.
Other winners and finalists were equally impressive. I was, quite simply, outmatched. Many names would be recognizable to you, and a complete list is on the WWA web site.
I want to personally thank everyone who helped with the editing, with suggestions, with research and fact-checking, with encouragement, and in any and every other way to bring Legends to reality. It was a hell of a good ride and I’m proud of the final result, and of the many friends I made along the way.
Upward and onward. I’ll start putting the next story up in a few days.
Thanks again.
