Short Stroke on 1873 Winchester Clone
« on: March 01, 2007, 02:23:29 PM »
I have tried everything I can think of to get this short stroke kit to work.  It was installed by a professional.  Would fire a few rounds then light hits.  Call C&I Store, was told to check head space.  Checked as asked and it was to large according to their instructions.  Sent information to C&I store.  They were really nice and set me a new SS Kite to replace the old one.  Rechecked dhead space and it was in accordance with their specs. Worked fine for about 50 rounds, then would light hit four or five rounds, then work correctly for a while.  On the light hits if I manually recocked the hammer it would fire.

Changed the hammer spring to a heavier one, same problem.

Now I have replaced the SS kite with the original parts and have no problem firing all 10 rounds with no light hits.

Just wanted to know if anyone else has had this problem and if they found a soluation to it.

Thanks.
