Tonto Rim customer service is lacking....

I placed an order for a leather jacket that was on sale at Tonto Rim last week on Wednesday the 27th, I asked the clerk taking the order if it was too late to ship that day, she said yes and that it would go out the next day.  I called today to see if I could get the package number so I could make sure someone was home to receive it, with snow on the ground here, and was told that the coat was still sitting at the store, that UPS didn't work last week in Indiana and hadn't picked it up, and they were'nt sure if it would be shipped today because of President Ford's mourning holiday.  That sounded strange, so I called UPS, they said the only place they weren't working last Thursday was Colorado, I guess blizzards do stop things....  I called back to Tonto Rim, and told them that UPS said they were shipping on Thursday, and asked again why wasn't the coat shipped, the woman that I talked to both times, refered me to the manager, who came on very beligerently, wanting to know if I wanted "my money back", he stated they were a small shop of three people, makes it harder to believe that someone answering the phone didn't know the shipping policy, that if I wanted it before Christmas I needed to tell them, I reminded him politely that I ordered the coat AFTER Christmas! and that if store personnel tells a customer something, then it's up to the store to let the customer know of major shipping changes.  Anyway, with the continued beligerent attitude of the manager, I canceled the order.

Well, I can honestly say that I purchased an item there ONCE and it shipped 4 days after I was told it shipped.  I haven't shopped there since.

I've ordered several small things in the past from them also and had no problems, but this is the cowboy way, I don't do business with folks that lie to me, if they would have said they screwed up and didn't get the coat mailed out, I could have excepted that.   I just can't say it's a loss for something I've never had...  ???

I tend to agree with you, Wymore. I have had less than satisfying dealings with them in the distant past. I use Wild West Merchantile now.

I paid extra money, but I got a real nice coat from Terry and Delmonico at the Fort...  Plus I had Del reshape a hat for me, some old cowboy from out to Broken Bow asked me if I I really was going to wear that hat, guess Del really out did himself... ;D ;D

I recently ordered a custom hat from then and it arrived exactly when they said it would...and the quality is excellent. I've always had good service from them.

Maybe you caught them on their bad day.  I have dealt with them at shoots and got great service, but not through the mail.   :-\
