'66 Trapper
« on: December 11, 2006, 06:52:18 AM »
What's up guys?  I'm new around these parts but I have been reading the loads of info in the special interest sections.  Seems like a lot of well informed cowboys.  I do have some questions that I can't find in a previous thread.  If some of you guys would help me, it would be greatly appreciated.  I am thinking of getting a '66 Trapper in .38, actually it's a Cimarron.  My questions are to anyone that has one or shot one of the Cimarron Yellow Boy Trappers.  1)  Does it REALLY hold 10 rounds (125-158 gr)?  2)  Is the barrel 16" or 16.5"?  & 3)  How do they shoot as far as accuracy on the farther targets?
Thanks ahead of time boys!

First you won't go wrong with a Cimarron .... good choice

from their website:
Caliber:
 45 LC, 44/40, .357 Mag.
Magazine Capacity:
10 Rounds
Barrel Length:
16" Round

I had the SRC in 38 in the early eighties, great little shooter , no issues.

as far as accuracy on the farther targets.... what's farther ? 100 yards ? 200 ?  it's a light bullet after all, subject to cross wind etc.
and will be effected muzzle velocity.
when planets align...do the deal !

The new manufacture (the last 18 months) '66 Trapper holds 10 rounds.  Barrel length will vary about 1/4 inch, but nominal dimension is 16 inches.  In other words, it may be as long as 16 1/4.
I have hit a standard "man" silhouette at 200 meters with a 16" barrel Trapper with boring regularity.. ;)

Was the man silhouette the same size as the buffalo hunter in Lonesome Dove?
