Just wondering, does anyone much have any information on the guns that Stembridge provied that looked much like the 1858, or the 1875?  Apparently from what I can tell they were 1873 Colt's with the ejector turned out and a web welded under the bbl.  I know a few of the John Wayne Civil war movies had them, as well as Dean Martin and his band of outlaws in BANDOLERO.

I'd like to see some detailed photos and information on these guns, but little or none is available.

Thanks,

I've wondered the same thing, myself. I can't help any, but will watch your thread to see if anyone can offer any information. It would be fun to have one.

A pard of mine found a bp frame 1st gen SAA that had been re-worked for the movies.
Some prop house (it wasn't Stembridge)in LA sold all of their wares and a gun shop here in Washington acquired a number of them.
At some point, this particular specimen became a Remington.
They removed the barrel and replaced it with an octagonal piece, which was counter-drilled for about 2 inches to create a "muzzle", and a web was welded on the underside.
He still has the barrel with the web attached.

thanks for the info.  I would love to see Guns Of the Old West do a little bit on these guns.  They have done many others.
