model 97 repro
« on: July 17, 2006, 02:18:05 PM »
i have a norinco repro of the winchester model 97 trench gun. from a rifle stand at 20 yards it puts rifled slugs 6 inches to the left and 3 inches below the x. any ideas, suggestions, or experiences with adjusting this problem without using kentucky windage and tennesee elevation? can the barrel shroud be loosened and the front bead moved (to the right?) for adjustment? thanks in advance. geo.

Geo,
The front sight would need to be rotated left to move POI to the right.  As for the shroud, sorry I don't know how it's attached on a Norinco.  Might be a good idea to try various shell brands and slug designs, weights, and loadings to see if another would shoot closer to point of aim.  An adjustable rear sight seems in order if you're making it a dedicated slug gun.
