rogers and spencer shooters
« on: June 24, 2006, 12:16:45 PM »
i have a hard time holding onto the r&s .44. the recoil makes my gripping hand slide up to the hammer (i have been told it's the design of the pistol). modifying my hold by putting one or two fingers under the grip helps but weakens my hold on the pistol. it also makes it impossible to cock the hammer with my shooting hand. at 6'2" and 225 lbs. i am big enough to hang onto large frame pistols. anyone experienced this problem and anyone have any suggestions? checking with the nssa i cannot change the wooden grips and still compete. thanks in advance. geo.

Hi, geo
Try putting your right thumb (I assume you are right handed) on the rear of the recoil shield just to the left of the hammer.
