The storms have started back up here now.  Our ducks still don’t mind it but everything else has seeked shelter for now.

Afternoon all.

71 here right now, heading for 80.  Not a cloud in sight.

Deer got into one of my garden patches yesterday.  Ate all six of the sunflowers, two bean plants and trampled the one pumpkin that had sprouted.  Lucky me.

I was just informed today that I'll be attending a funeral tomorrow, so that kind of takes the wind from one's sails.

Storms returned as expected , rained steady from 5pm till about 7p then spurts till 10p, cleared up this morning but won't last.
For my 1st. day of Vacation ....
No plans or agenda, might go to the toy store and/or tinker in reloading room,  pretty tame stuff today.

X-over needs washing but that will have to wait till the rain cycle stops ,  same for a range visit  :(

Good morning folks. Another hot one. But it's supposed to cool off next week. Need to do some reloading and load development this week. Getting low on my rifle 45 lc. Still working on a load for my krag/ scout rifle build but it's been too hot. No fun shooting in the heat or cold. And soon all of those skeeters will hatch out with all the water that's in the ditches, oh boy. 'Skin so soft'  keeps them away pretty good.

Afternoon all.

Sunny and 70 right now.  Head for 90 in town.

It seems that the funeral I was supposed to be going to was rescheduled, so instead of that I've been drafted into a city trip.  It's only forecast for 102 down there, so I don't know why I'm worried.  :-\

I'm planning a trip to the fun toy store while I'm down there.  I need a new "tactical" backpack for search and rescue.  Our new medical and survival kits attach with MOLLE gear, and in the interest of across the board familiarity the lieutenant wants all of us to attach both in the same way/place: on the webbing med on left and survival kit on right.  Alrighty then.
I also need to pick up some new hollow point 9mm.  I burned four of my ten remaining Hydra Shoks on a rattlesnake last night (he tasted good over an oak fire).  I'm thinking I'll try some TAC-XPD from Barnes, since those should work well through my dad's short barrel too.

Now if you'll excuse m, I'm going to walk my dog before having to leave.

Uh Oh !   :(

My plans altered a might also....the visit to the Cell phone store was successful, easy fix a few strokes of a little nylon brush to clear the lint , sawdust  etc. and viola I can hear  :D  that's outta the phone speaker slot not me   ::)
Toy Store was uneventful, nothing in my immediate area of wishful obtainium  :-\

I  passed on BBQ for a roast beef sub from Publix ( for those not familiar, its a Florida-Ga. chain of Super Markets, the deli makes a jam up variety of subs or wraps and at bargain prices )

Which leads me to today ,  no rain...so far  ???  ...."SHE that shell be obeyed " is going to the SKY PILOT's oratory with a lady friend.
I figure to load some 8MM Lebel.

Speaking of groceries. We had a nice Piggly Wiggly store in Aurora but was sold to the arab owner of the mini mart who ran it into the ground and now he uses it for ?? storage. Coming from Bal'mer 46 years ago I'd never heard of a piggly wiggly store. I remember seeing a Pig semi in Close Encounters of the Third Kind. Good movie. Now Aurora has two of those ubiquitous 'dollar' stores. I always think when one of these things get robbed, how much money the robber got... a dollar.
Thanks for the coffee.

We still have the “Pig” Piggley Wiggley here and the dreaded Dollar General.  No Food Lions or Harris Teeters or 7/11’s.  I do wish we had Wahwah’s around the area their sandwiches were great. Could get them 24/7, great when you are on the way to a CAS match and you didn’t pack one.

Wa Wa's landed here about 7-8 years ago , first just 2 and it was even local news worthy.
Now they are everywhere,  there are 5 of them within 2 mile radius of my work twenty.... good Coffee too !

I like the Breakfast burrito , subs are fresh but Publix I think are better....

As for Piggly Wiggly , I haven't seen them attempt Florida openings unless it up in the panhandle area ... But their Green Been Casserole is great... and when Georgia or Ala. I get some.

We do have Winn Dixie , but they are closing stores all over the State

"...  yes I agree Publix is better than Wa Wa . Cept they stay open"

Roger that !

Cincinnati based Kroger tried to buy out Winn Dixie ..I think the Feds blocked it  :-\

Now Kroger is looking to buy The Fresh Market a North Carolina based chain and get in to the Florida market and give Publix a run for the food market predominance.

Good afternoon or evening to you all.  Decided to stick my nose in and say a word or two.

What is this thing you are speaking of, calling it rain?  Actually, we had some here a few weeks ago, about .02 inches, caused all sorts of hate and discontent.  I can't come up with any excuses for the way folks here handle precipitation; they are all from places that get a goodly amount of it, but they seem to have a mental block about how to drive and act when it does come down.  No worries for me, though, I just stay put until it dries out again - by the way, did I ever mention that I do not like rain?  Can't figure out why, I lived where it rained for most of my life, and dealt with it, but now, I like living where it doesn't do much of that.

I like my HighPower.  It is an Argentine contract Belgian Fabrique National model 9mm.  Probably my favorite shooter for an all around handgun; just one of those things that is "right".  I had some glitches with it when I first got it, stovepiping with 115 gr bullets, and with some 124 gr; going to +P loads seemed to cure that, so a gunsmith here gave me a procedure to cure it: decide on a load I wanted to use, , and trim a wee bit off of the recoil spring until the gun runs right without a glitch; wound up taking almost a full turn off, but now it runs well with almost anything I can stick in it.

LR talking about the garden and fruit fits me right now, except I don't have the garden, just the fruit.  Mrs. Hairy is bringing me lots of it every time she goes to the grocery, so I'm busy washing, pitting, cutting up, and freezing berries, cherries, and pineapple, at this point; later, it will be something else, but I won't complain, the stuff is good.  Speaking of which----------------

Gotta go see what I need to do about that.

Later.

No joy on the blazer, still running on just 5. Changed plugs, wires, rotor and cap. Don't think it's ignition at this point. Compression from 150-180, not bad for a 200,000 mile car. If it's an injector, I'd rather let a shop do it, if I can get someone on it right away. Injectors on that one are inside the intake manifold.

Interesting trip, roasted, got good and wet in t storm and gave up the bedroll for the pickup seat.  Reason not to have buckets.  That was Friday/Sat morning early.

Had a half cup of ran, I know that cause the 3 coffee cups on picnic table were half full. ::)

Nice yesterday, almost froze last night, could see my breath.   Should have taken more blankets.  Wasn't suppose to go below 65 at night.  Forecast changed about the time I arrived on site.  Got to learn to take more.

Afternoon all.

Sunny and 85 as of 11:45.  Headed for 100.  Got 102 yesterday.  I'm thinking a trip to the higher elevations might be in order.

My garden is being assaulted by pincher bugs and crickets, and I am frustrated.  I've tried flour dusting, soapy water, isopropyl alcohol, and just applied some diatomaceous earth.  We'll see how it goes.

Now I've got a few errands to run.  Get the mail, some chicken food and veggies for dinner.  Then I'm going to take the dog out.

On the Flora subject or more correctly "fauna" we had some excitement this afternoon.
My wife found  Butterfly Areca Palms on sale at Home Depot and decided to buy one.
Its about a 2 gal. pot and came with green plastic netting that kept it sorta gathered in.
"She" placed it out by the pool it till it was decided (her decision )  where she'd plant it....

This afternoon was to be the un-potting, however the resident "fauna" in the form of 3' black snake had other plans as he was trapped by the plastic netting.
I'm pretty sure " the Shriek " was heard two counties away, certainly back a the Home Depot in town !

I was not much comfort...as I name it "Bubba Wallace"    why you ask ? ....  He's a black racer , of course.  ;D

"SHE" was not amused, and called animal control ( we have a friend that runs the County shelter and she happens to collect pet snakes  ::) )
However, before Amber could arrive... Bubba extricated himself or herself (Babette ?  :-\) from the enclosed netted palm.
"SHE" is quite sure Bubba or Babette is hanging around in the Holly hedge, to spring forth.

"SHE" will NOT go outside,  well as yet anyway.  :P   And when  "SHE"  does .... I fear for the snake !

Afternoon all.

Today has become "useless blob" day for me.  I took the dog out for a 'walk' yesterday, intending to just go down the trail a ways, toss a stick in the creek a few times and come home.  I ended up at the top of the mountain outside town.  For perspective, I parked at 2800 feet, and crested the mountain at 7000, six miles away.  I convinced my mommy to come give me a ride when I got to the nearest road. ::)

Also, I now have more than just bugs in my garden.  Now I have rabbits.  A jackrabbit pulled my screening off and ate a pumpkin and some beans.  Dog scared him off, but the damage was done.

Actually, today is voting day, so I need to go do that.

The Capt. (what we called it ) was bought at yard sale 35-40 years ago by my late Mother.
It has some age on it then, but not antique...

It has GPT  and  MH-HG  ???  stenciled in block letters on bottom of the seat , turned spindles & legs but not overly ornate and no hand hole in the back board , sculptured butt print in the seat ...
My guess, 1970's era beech wood maybe $35 chair new  :-\  prolly paid $5 at the yard sale  :-\

I use it as my den office/ computer seat ....Its stout, but creaks and is loose at most the glued spindle holes the slanted fitment keeps it together.

I suppose I should  restore it...and give it another lease on useful service.

The only Antique chair I have is a about 120 years old , Wicker seat spindle fan back Victorian....
its been around as long as I remember, it was in my folks house.

I am sure if one wanted to know the GBT and MH -HG could be found, and the history would be known. Then of course you could take it the PBS roadshow event and have them tell you.

Got one old chair a desk type, cleaned it up when i bought it, put a new leather seat in it. I bought it at a auction barn in Stuarts Draft Va., 20 years ago. Auctioneer couldn’t get a bid on it, i offered like $4. And got it.

Picked another handfull of Blueberries last evening.

Roo  it is GPT and you sorta inspired me to call ...

I'll be dogged, I just called an antique store I know in town ...we have bunch of them, St. Cloud is kinda a mecca  of the places.
This guy specializes in striping and restoring wood furniture.

He said those marks were Fancher Chair Falconer, NY  it been around since 1808 and still in business  :o

He said that chair was kinda common and they still make a similar chair today , called the CLUB
He said I was SPOT ON , dating it to around 1972

Use to come home after Wednesday Prayer meeeting and supper and lock up the chickens and ducks. Now it is still light, so i have to wait for them to gather up and head to their roost “when the street lights come on.” What mothers told children when i was growing up. I use cheap solar lights around the coops. Like a $buck each. When they come on they go in.  Funny some of those lights are 3 years old. Still working.

Afternoon all.

85 here, forecast for 80.  Also forecast for thunderstorms between 10:00 and 14:00, but here we are at noon with clear, blue skies.

Local news today had an interesting bit.  Apparently someone stole a Dodge van full of show dogs yesterday, then just ditched it on the side of the highway ten miles down the road.  Nobody found it until 10am today, but all dogs were in good health and the van was in fine mechanical order.  Weird situation all around.

A Rocky Mountain kind of summer day here. 100 💯 degrees and 35% humidity. I did the wally world run Solo, today. Missed one item, and got one item wrong. At least according to Suzanne.  Just finished the late feeding and will lock down at dark. I have been fermenting corn for feed (not for drinking) i fed some of the first batch this morning, no casulties. Weather wise it is too hot to just feed it, but for a treat it is okay.

I guess i could do some laundry now.

After my morning coffee I worked on bin storage racks in the upstairs of my barn all morning into the afternoon until it got too hot up there and then I fired up my Dixon mower. Got it stuck once but pulled it right out with my Edge. I've been wanting to make some kinda rack  to hold those bins since I had the barn built. Going to make them 4 tiers high. My son has a lot of his junk up there too. Ain't chillens great. I love my shop/barn, my most favorite room outside the house.

What's nice about it is, its portable , no wall or window mods/cuts.
It come with an window insert ( just close the window down on it ) for the 5" exhaust hose that it , & 110vac.

Afternoon all.

The weather is... Weather.  One minute is sunny, the next raining.  Pretty consistent 10-15mph wind. Temperature is 65-ish.

Today's excitement was a fairly large bike race in town.  I say fairly large,  the official count was 131 riders.  That's more than the graduating class at the highschool this year, so...
I worked as a volunteer at a rest stop, handing out water and snacks, and radioing numbers to base. I got a bag of corn chips and a cup of lime and selzer water out of the ordeal.

Major, staying home from the gun show is a good way to save money...at least that's what I've heard.  ::). Hope you get over the bug quickly.

Off today, been I the basement working.  Wife drug home a couple nice T-Bones at around 24 oz each.  Got some tators baling and getting the 15" skillet hot.   Grid iron big grill went somewhere, think I member stepdaughter borrowing it, says she didn't.  Don't need lines on a steak anyway.  Wife wants medium raw, mine was actually fully but not over cooked with a butter baste.

Go ahead, call me a sissy for not wanting it raw, big debate in the cooking groups, people say you can't cook a steak beyond medium rare with out ruining it.  I tell them not to judge me by this skills.  Slim and  Micha will   agree.  I like the full flavor of the Malliard Reaction.

Funny I had a guy tell me he don't like tough dry meat one time as h was eating jerky. ;D

Seems like today was the first day in a couple of weeks when I ended the day with less left to do that when I started it. Plugged in the lead pot as soon as I got up, cast most of a pot full of wheel weights into nice shiny 225 gr .45 bullets before going to church. Short nap and then lunch after church, then tackle the mis-firing Blazer one more time. Yesterday I put in a new Fuel Injection, and it still missed, although on a different cylinder than before. Was expecting to have to warranty the unit, but when  I unplugged the harness from it, one of the connector pins was bent. Straightened with a needle nose pliers and viola! no miss! The Blazer Red Rover is ready to roam again! With time left to work some in the garden and then size/lube some of those shiny new .45 bullets before supper.

There are a lot of explanations possible here Prof M. Someone practicing for a dog catcher job ( getting used to all the barking), a cat burgler gone totally wrong or possibly a dogs rights PETA supporter trying to save those poor defenseless show dogs from a life of being exploited just for their looks. So sad.

I hop, I bop, ate there twice, once cause it was late and never tried it before, once cause step daughter worked there and was told I had to be nice and eat there.  Lucky she got fired shortly after and didn't have to repeat it.

Besides we have a real 24 hour hole in the wall diner down the road.  Wife and I go there sometimes on Sat night after work.  Old guy cook looks about like Mel from the TV show, like on work release, but he mumbles under his breath when I order eggs, but gets them right when they come, I give him a thumbs up when I leave and he gives it back.  Hardly anyone else can.
Over hard, not broke seems to confuse them.

How about BOB EVANS?  They are not in the south, and i sure they have changed in the past 20 years but it was my favorite of the chain restaurants. Even more than Cracker Barrell

Got the morning beverages ready..... might try some cold brew later today.

Got back from the 2018 NCOWS Nationals last Sunday. It was a great event. I slept in a tent for eight nights. Some days were in the 90's but it got down around 70 at night. Slept better at times in the tent then at home. I bought an inflatable queen size mattress 22" high and it worked great. With my artificial hip it would have been difficult sleeping on the ground.

The mattress was around $45.00 delivered from Amazon. I inflated it with a borrowed Inverter.

Yes the one in the video is virtually the same as mine. It's pretty easy to set up. I usually try to camp in the primitive (period correct) area. Hopefully next year I will be able camp in the primitive area again.

There's a Bob Evans in Osage Beach we have ate at a few times. Pretty good for a chain restaurant.

Johnny M, I have a couple of air mattresses, but they're not the extra high type. One Queen and one single. I have an inflator that uses 4 "D" batteries.. They also make 12 volt ones as well as 120. I used the single in my "A" tent last year at the Iowa Muster, slept well but needed an extra sleeping bag under me, in cool weather air mattresses are really cold to sleep on. I don't use a cot in my "A" tent, because it would have to be nearly in the middle to clear the sloped walls.

You probably have the Bob Evans because of Florida’s winter population.

I love my Ryobi tools. However i think once my step sons got their hands on the inflater i’d loose that and a good battery. I ll stick to the small electric compessor. They hate using it. Too much like work.

Update from Wisconsin. Lightning hit a tree outside the Cabin they are staying in. It traveled a cable in under the cabin, blewing registers and other stuff off the lower walls and floor. The Cabin has filled with smoke. They are waiting now for fire department to give a all clear. So they can pack up. Crazy day for them. I just looked at weather app, looks pretty red over most of the land of cheese and sausage

One way to look at that trip to Hayward is that they'll have a lifetime of stories to tell.  Have a few of those myself.

Hot here, 108 yestiddy, NWS says it's 99 right now, but it is a bit cloudy, and the humidity is up from what it has been.

Glad you're on the upside of that ague, Major2, had some sort of the stuff a few times, not anywhere close to pleasant.  Picked up a bug from the Colorado River once that took me almost six months to get over; pathologists never could identify it from the tests that they did.

Going to make the trip to SoCal tomorrow, 'bout five hours worth of driving; granddaughter 2 is in a stage production at the South Coast Repertory Theater, requested our attendance.  She's a good kid, and talented, too - aren't all grandkids like that?

Off to tend to more chores.

Later.

Evening all.

I don't know how the weather was in town today, because I was on a mountain.  Me and a friend and my dog went up a local mountain.  It's 8090 feet, and the trailhead is 3400.  It took nine hours round trip, and 12 miles.  Coming down was much easier.  Up there it was 60 degrees.

I'm going to finish my Gatorade and root beer, and be a vegetable the rest of the day.

The Sweetwater Regulators had their first match of the 2018 season yesterday. Five shooters braved the 96 plus degree heat indices. We survived by pacing ourselves and drinking lots of fluids. We moved a portable canopy from stage to stage for shade and that helped a lot also.

I'll need to get used to this kind of weather. We have our home up for sale and as soon as it is sold, we will be moving to Florida.

There is one local at it's away at the big local show.  English built so not common in the US.

A lot of old planes started the same way.

Ever seen a Diesel that had a carb and distributor and plugs?  Go a manual valve in the head, open it and  you have like  6-1 ratio, then when the temp gauge gets to operating temp you close it and it's now Diesel.

The chance of rain turned into hurry up and finish feeding chores this morning.  Then as many of us older guys know, we cut and bruise with just minor bumps of anything.  Pouring rain to text my bride to bring some 1st aid to me. Had blood everywhere, from a scratch that did not need stiches or further medical attention. First site one may have thought i cut my hand off.  My wife did not panic either, she is use to me.

Chores are done and the sun popped out for a few minutes. I looked over the blueberries.  Also looked at my Fig and have fruit on it now.  Back in the A/C now.

2nd picture is a blueberry plant HyBush variety. Have RabbitEye also.

Afternoon all.

Currently 80 headed for 95.  Clear blue skies right now, but they're calling for rain and lightening up in the high country later in the afternoon.

I think I may have found a solution to the bugs that are eating the garden.  I minced six cloves of garlic and steeped them in a solution of 1qt water and 3tsp salt  for three days.  Then I took two tbsp of that and diluted it in another quart of water and sprayed that on my plants.  Nothing got munched last night, so it's so far so good.

Something is up with the radio in my truck.  It used to be that the only stations it would pick up reliably were the local pop country station and a gangster rap station on the coast.  I went with the wannabe country, and everything was okay.  Yesterday, the country station just straight up disappeared, but now the current light rock station comes in clear as a bell.  The two are quite a ways apart (97.3 and 106.1) so I'm not sure what is going on.

Cost less to replace them than repair them today !

Aren't any Radio's made in the USA ...by Ford or any other Domestic Automaker....  what was Philco (Ford) & AC Delco (GM) are Asian these days.

It's aftermarket.  Casio, I think.  It's also 20 years old, so I guess I can't complain too much.

100 degrees today.  Naturally, I got a call at noon that a friend needed help cleaning out a storage locker and loading the stuff into a uhaul.   At least I don't have to drive the 12 hours with it.

Afternoon all.

93 and sunny here in California today.  Good day for going to the lake.

Yesterday turned out to be a little more interesting than moving furniture.  Around three-thirty there was a forest fire in the southern part of the county.  I gat called up by SAR to go down and work evacuation and traffic copping.  So I got my gear together and get to the sheriff's office to meet with the rest of the team, and we got cancelled.  So that was fun.

Then the really interesting part of the day called for drawing a gun on someone.  Yeah, that was fun.  Long story short, I stumbled across a couple people doing crack on a trail a ways from town and one of them thought it was in their best interest to pull a Glock on me.  I just happened to be faster on the draw.  I told him to toss the gun away and get on the ground, but they elected to run instead.  Which I suppose was just as well done there's no cell service it there to call law enforcement.  Once I got into cell range I called a friend that's a deputy and we did the paperwork, and then I went home.   So that happened.
In other news, one of our hens was struggling with egg bounding this week, but everything seemed to solve itself last night.  So that's nice.

Good Sunday to you all.  Workin' on a cuppajoe, feeling peckish.  I could almost parrot most of what you have said the last few days, lr, except for the rain part; instead, we have temps in the one-tens daytimes, last night, it was still over one hundred at midnight.

I knew a couple of different donkeys a while ago. One was a smallish critter, about the size of a Great Dane, was the watch donkey for a lodge in the High Sierras, a place called Convict Lake.  He would spend most of his days sitting on the porch steps like a dog, with his hind end on one tread, and his fore feet on a lower one, and occasionally taking a tour of the place; if anyone came around, he would set up a heck of a racket, and run to greet them, lookin' for a handout.  He had a taste for tobacco - it seems that more than just him is that way - and I found out about it when he stole a pack of Camel no-filters from my shirt pocket; he would be sorely disappointed these days, since I quit smoking in '83.  On our honeymoon, I stopped off there to see if they had a cabin for a day or two, and he came running, and stuck his head in my window, so I told my Bride: "Watch this", and slipped him a cig, told her she could give him one, too, but she'd have to tear the filter off of one of hers.  She thought that was funny. She didn't want to get out of the car, so I went into the lodge to see what was what, and when I came back out, that jack had his head in the passenger window of the car, his tail was going a hundred miles an hour, and Mrs. Rr was clear over on the drivers side tearing filters off of her Winstons and feeding the tobacky parts to him as fast as she could.  I hauled him out of my new Pontiac and chased him up onto the porch, but I almost hurt from laughing - She was not quite as amused. And, there was almost a whole pack of Winston filters without the smoke stuff attached in the floor of the car.

That's my war story for the week, I suppose.

Our fourteen year old granddaughter, Bella, came to visit her computer for a week - she doesn't have one at home with her mom, but the one she had at her dad's place got moved here when they went back on the road full time, so when she comes to visit, it is more like she is visiting the computer than us. She just left, and I don't think she said fifty words to me in the week she was here. I tried to put limits on her the last time she came, but that just resulted in a moody kid who hid in her bedroom instead of the computer room. Teenagers! Bah.  Well, now life can get back to it's normal hum-drum.

Gonna go see what I can rustle up to chew on.

Later.

Good one Harry  ;D

My Donkey story goes like this.....

Some years ago, a lady neighbor (a veterinarian BTW )  diagonally off my back pasture owns one of the critters along with her horses....
Got me in some HOT water when she first brought it home.....

Seems when I first saw it .. I said  " Doctor Mary has a nice Ass "

"She" whom must be obeyed , was none to pleased with my observation  ... later that day all was well when the critter started braying.

Similar story back in the 90’s a old minining logging roads connecting near Hughs Creek Road in the River of No Return area. Salmon river area. Little gas stop town with abandon mine and a couple homes. The gas pumps were the glass type.  A pair of ferral burros grazed the roadsides. Apparently accepting handouts from passer bys.  Couple bags of chips later we were able to get past them. Gas and a 12er and back on our trip we went.

I have worked with domesticated ones since then

Afternoon all.

We hit summer here.  110 yesterday, forecast for 107 today.  It's 95 at noon.

Had a couple wildfires down in the city while we were down for church yesterday. Looks like a trailer chain fire, since there were originally four fires within a mile, and all right on the roadside.  It conflagrated after a while, and It's up to 1000 acres total as of 10am.  That's mostly grass and tall oaks/ willows/cottonwoods, so the trees typically are barely singed.  But the fire moves fast, and that is dangerous.

In other news, I got invited to run for RHA president  at the college, so  that's kind of cool.

I still have seeds for those heirloom (old timers ) softball size  watermelons. They are sweet but don’t fit the bill today.  Yhey don’t grow well here for some reason. Maybe too high of ph in soil. I don’t know. These seedless ones have seeds.

TK that is what chickens do best. :) But come dark they’ll want back at the roost. Mine have a acre of good fence to keep the evil from getting them. They like the other 9 acres. At dark they are waiting for one of us to open the gate.  Ducks on the other hand are not that smart.

Nobody ever accused poultry of being genius.  I'd like to just let the boys into the yard, but since we live in a neighborhood that would result in a lot of disappearing chickens.  Too many dogs, cars, motorcycles and skunks.

Afternoon all.

Cooler weather today.  Currently 75, forecast for 85.  Have a high pressure system over us right now.  Keeping the wind and temperature down, though humidity is pretty high- around 40%.

Had a fire pop up last night around 6:30.  It's not threatening anything, but the column of she is visible from town, so our usual suspects are going nuts about it.    One person in my neighborhood evacuated to the coast, despite the fact that this fire is 20 miles east, across two bends in the river and the highway, and the wind is blowing the opposite direction.  Whatever guy, you do what you want.
Current fire size is 350 acres, with six helicopters and two fixed wing tankers.  I live in the flight path between the airport and the fire, so that makes things noisy.  As an aviation guy, I don't mind.

Have sourdough rising right now, and a coffee cake on the oven, so I'll let you know how that goes.

Was in town getting water, ice, and gas. Decided to go into the toy store, since there was a crowd at the ice machine. I figured I would be safe, since I had no money to spend... but then I saw a Ruger SBH 44 in the case. $400. I ended up trading my Uberti 357, shoulder rig, and a box of ammo, plus $150 in cash, which I got by taking a loan on my Savage 22 rifle. The wife isn't sure about this deal, she says "You love your 357." I said "Yeah... but it ain't a Ruger."

95 and dry heat today.  Forecast for 100, I say we're close enough.

I'm tired today.  My friend who works for county road department got put on road closure duty last night for the fire, working a 17:30-05:30 shift.  I went out there with some Sprite and snacks and planned on spending an hour or two with him.  Seven hours later, my cell phone died and I figured that was probably my cue to go home.  Mother's love it when you come home at 3am after not answering 35 text messages and eight phone calls.  But I survived the chewing out, so I guess all is well.

I just got home from the vet's office with the dog.  She has a infected cut on her foot, so we got that checked out.  Doc gave us some antibiotics and a cream and sent us on our way.
