Title: Front Sight Dovetail
Post by: King Medallion on February 12, 2018, 05:15:34 PM
Is the front sight dovetail the standard 3/8"? I'm thinking of getting a Marbles. One with those big glowing orange or green beads on it.  ;)

I read your inquiry and from my perspective, on my '76 the front dovetail is 3/8".  Should know as I also put on a fancy front sight to help my eyesight.  Had no trouble tapping it into that dovetail.  So for what it is worth if you need to you cn always file a bit to make it fit or tap in the sides to tighten it up.

Did that work? I just replaced the front sight on my Uberti with a lyman 17A tunnel - ordered 3/8 without thinking (or measuring!)  When I got it I was kinda peeved thinking I ordered wrong and the Uberti dovetail looked smaller but it didnt take long with a three corner file on the sight base and it tapped in nice and tight - right the first time maybe?
cheers

It was tight, but it went on, use the file just a bit.
