Title: Dept of the Platte muster 2018
Post by: Sagebrush Burns on July 07, 2017, 10:27:01 pm
Mark your calendar, the Department of the Platte will host our first departmental muster on Saturday & Sunday, August 4th & 5th, 2018.  The muster will be held in Craig, Colorado at the Bears Ears Sportsman Club Cedar Mountain Range on County Road 7 north of town. As of now the match will consist of two skirmish stages, a partners stage, and long range and precision rifle and pistol stage.  Primitive camping (dry, no amenities except a good privy) will be available at the range and there are many motels within 10 minutes of the range.Schedule will be:  set up the match at 0800 Saturday; shoot the rest of Saturday and Sunday morning; break down the match Sunday afternoon.  Cost is $50 per shooter which includes lunch on Saturday and Sunday.  More details below - click on the pdf for full information.

Hi Everyone

I'm going to at least put a plan together for this one.  14 hour drive is a bit daunting though.  Have you decided on Victorian or Expansion Era or both/ any?  The less baggage the better.

Later Y'all

Wow wish it was the tail end of August.  Maybe Anne and I will put off the AK part of the trip till after the Platte Muster.  Will talk at WR there Sagebrush.

She who must be obeyed is trying to reschedule some DR appts to free up the time for the muster

May even BS my son in Grand Junction into coming up for the weekend
Any good places to park a 5th Wheel reasonably close to the range or even on the range as I do have a decent generator

In my excitement over putting on a muster, I overstepped myself and posted the following:

GAF firearms classifications will be used with one exception:  Bolt action rifles and double action revolvers are specifically excluded from the frontier era categories.

This restriction is now rescinded - standard GAF categories will apply.

I also mistakenly restricted rifle ammo to 1400 fps.  The normal standard of 1500 fps will be in effect.

My apologies for any difficulty or misunderstanding.

Something did some loading and have like 150 405 grain BP cartridges for the Trapdoor, another 50 500 grainers for long range 40 ish 45 colt BP (ran out of bp lubed bullets) (not to worry more on order from montana bullet works) 160 ish cast for the 03 and 40 ish long range for the 03 as well and plenty of 45 ACP for the 1937 Smith.  Really looking forward to seeing if I can hit anything with the 88 Trapdoor.

It is the rifleman and not the rifle...you WILL make hits!

:'( I'm not going to be able to make it this year. to much yet to be done before the start of school. Doesn't look like I'm going to be able to use any of this year's vacation yet.

I've also not started on this years vacation time yet. Actually, I just used 10 days of year before last's vacation days for a family vacation to SW Colorado and a bit of SE Utah. Will still have to use at least 5 more days since I can only carry over 55 days. But for now, I'm "traveled out", just got home from almost 2600 miles of vacation. So maybe next year.

They messed with the sensor and the electronic control module did not fix problem. by processes of elimination they think it is wiring harness or connectors. tell me I will have truck tomorrow.  son is off Thursday and Friday  will head out Tuesday arrive grand junction wed and head for Craig Friday to arrive noonish
