Title: 1st Model Richards FS
Post by: Fox Creek Kid on April 28, 2017, 01:55:48 PM
Well, I asked the Major if it was OK to mention this and was graciously told yes as I know this bunch here treasures authenticity. ;)

I am selling my custom Cimarron/Uberti 1st Model Richards conversion that I had made in 2008. It started life as a Type II Richards conversion that I had a custom authentic 1st Model ring (with lip & integral sight) made for by a famed Austrian gunsmith. The ring is not a casting. It is chambered in modern .44 Colt (0.430) and is nickel plated with Gripmaker faux ivory Mexican Eagle grips that I have aged a tad. I had a custom one piece brass dovetail FS installed and regulated it to "dead nuts" POA at 10 yds. for BP loads. I also drilled out the ejector rod hole to the correct original diam and added a correct diam. rod with a new spring. This is ready to go and timed perfectly with about a 2 lbs. trigger. The FP is the historically correct frame mounted one that is spring loaded and the OEM hammer was machined to the correct dimensions.

The only other way to get one of these is to pay someone to do it and last I knew one made from "scratch" started at circa. $1,500. I would not hold my breath for Uberti to make one of these. This is your chance to get a "chip in the big game".  ;)

Man, you would have to post something like this when I'm out of work and broke. :'(  Beautiful piece, whoever gets it will surely treasure it.

Major, does the Type I in the upper picture have ser. #X14054 and if it is I have a chance to buy it? Did the revolver function as it should? If it is could you call or write about the revolver?
