Title: who here owns a .45 Blackhawk convertible
Post by: Dyess Scout on April 24, 2017, 11:05:01 AM
I've got one of the 7.5in convertibles that Williams Shooters Supply has made for them.

That revolver is a blast to shoot. I'd say I've probably shot more ACP out of it so far but the .45 Colt is a good fit for my Uberti 1873 Special Sporting Rifle and my Uberti Low Wall in .45 Colt

Did you get the K-Bisley?
I'm glad that Williams is getting them made.

I may order a pair for my shop (if possible).

Are you talking about the Flattop? I got one but not the Bisley. I find that handle to be very uncomfortable. I shoot the ACP cylinder only with .45 Cowboy Spl. brass. Much fun!

didn't get a Bisley or flat top, just a standard 7.5in blued

I've since swapped out the plastic grips with rosewood ones. Not gonna lie though, I liked the rosewood grips that used to come standard with Rugers, I think they fit the frame better than these newer ones which seem just a smidge too big. The standard grips on my 2006 .357 Blackhawks and 1968 Super Single Six seem to fit a lot better.

Not a Blackhawk, but around '99 I bought a stainless Vaquero convertible.  Occasionally shot BP 45acp in it.  One thing with mine, since it headspaced on the case mouth, I found that some brass was too long and would bind in the cylinder against the recoil shield.  After I determined what was the max length that would chamber and function, I would sort my brass before loading 45acp ammo for that gun.

I've got a 4 5/8" Blackhawk that was converted to a Bisley. It has a jeweled hammer, a action job, and real ivory grips.

Yup, mine like either ACP or Colt, I usually run ACP as it is so much cheaper.
