Thanks for the coffee...it is month end closing at work. You'd think that after a few years of balancing and closing out the energy consumption, I'd have it down packed. But, every few months I seem to find another way to make a mistake that slips past my checks....It is hard to find your own mistakes when you are perfect and humble as I am....I could use an extra cup.

Blue sky with scattered fluffy cumulus. 52 right now but could break 70 later. We’ll see what the winds do, so the cats can have a backyard excursion this afternoon. I’m already getting the “open, open, open” looks from in front of the patio door.

Weather looks like a carbon copy of yesterday, except high thin cirrus are replacing yesterday’s cumulus, and lower wind speeds.
Jake got about an hour outside yesterday, but Samantha doesn’t do wind well, so she just sat in the doorway.
Tonight’s menu is grilled pork steaks and roasted taters. So Jake should get some more outside time tonight while I'm cooking.

Same here; mostly clear with a few high clouds, warm, supposed to go seventy five or eighty today, light breezes.
Theo, (the Other Cat, I just call him "OC", or just "Cat"; (long story there - when we got him, he was going on his third time returned to the county shelter, and would have been automatically put down; the guy we got him from was in the Air Force, rotated home and thought he would settle for a while, and he wanted a cat. So he went to an adoption event at PetCo, and got "Bill", renamed him "Theo", and then got re-deployed, so he put him on Craig's List. I just tripped over the ad by accident, but Sammy, the cat we had was short of companionship for the first time in his life, so we went and got "Theo". He woudn't respond to any name, though (who can blame him?), so I just started referring to him as "The Other Cat" thus "OC") and Ellie, the lap dog who I just call "Dog" ('nuther long story, same general idea)), have a pet door through the wall so they go in and out at their pleasure. OC won't climb or jump up on stuff too often because he was de-clawed as a kitten and it seems he has real tender front feet, so I don't worry about them getting out too much. Besides, OC is a consummate "fraidy cat", and Dog thinks she is a lot bigger than her ten pounds until she gets challenged, and they are softies, as well; something they don't know comes into the yard, they head inside, pronto. When they do that, it raises a flag to me, so I go check what's going on.
Got some sort of holey red meat in the fridge, yams in the veggie bowl, and salad fixin's to use up, so I might make some sort of "fried" steak. Time for another cuppajoe.

I started naming my male cats after John Wayne characters (I’ve always kept a male and a female). Capt. Jake Cutter was scarfed from a litter of stray kittens just before we left our apartment and moved into our house. His predecessor was J. B. Books who was a shelter rescue kitten. Samantha (our current female) was also a shelter rescue kitten. Jake is a very pale yellow tabby and Sam is all most solid black. I refer to them as Ebony and Ivory when they sit next to each around the house.

We've got a pair here. A grey and white, white paws. Named Mittens( Wonder why?). The other is all white( named Snowball,another wonder why?). Both spayed females. Snowy is also known as "Avalanche". ::)

Samantha is a roly-poly shaped cat that doesn’t like to move out of the way, in the dark she is sometimes referred to as the football.
All my cats have been spayed/neutered and chipped. They have all their claws, but Jake is the only one that goes over the 6 foot fence. That’s why they only go out with human supervision. I’m trying to get our neighborhood quail population back up to the 50 or so that used to run up and down the street in the front of the house. Rental property neighbor’s cats have reduce the quail population drastically! They are also the main reason Jake goes over the fence if not watched (he likes defending his back yard from alien cats).

Like I said Samantha is rather plump and she does make it clear when she jumps off the cat tree. She also lends no credence to Robert Frost's "THE fog comes on little cat feet." ::) She sounds more like a pony running around on the hardwood floors. ;D

Going to a church fish fry here. Only I get the baked fish, it's really good,too. The guy that does the baked taters is an absolute master with them. Best I've ever had. In the 30's here,cloudy. We had light snow over night, just covered the grassy areas and some walks and drives. The streets were basically just wet ::)

Once a month I get to get the deep fryer out and create something to clog up the arteries. ::) It helps get approval from the wife if it’s fish ‘cause I use her late father’s beer batter recipe for the fish and onions. So it reminds her of when he used to make it.

Pick-up is loaded except the taters which are on the stove in a pot of water to par-boil to save time. Got a stainless steel stock pot that all 25 pounds fit in. ;D
Roast pork with Liz's secret rub (she gives it to me so I don't care) good for beef pork and fowel things, great stuff. Herbed taters with cheese, biscuits and peach cobbler. Should be an easy morning on this one.

Yep...I heard about that on the news. Speculation is that she was on drugs or mentally unstable....YOU THINK??
I use to commute daily on that freeway about 15 years ago, and a sane person would be tempted to do something crazy like that just to break the boredom and frustration of the twice daily 7 mile plus traffic jams. I don't miss that drive. I have a feeling that I'm going to want to move to Nebraska after this summer's visit. Trouble is, I don't believe that I could find work that would pay my current bills.

After yesterday morning’s cloud sweat, not another drop has hit us. Wind is 15-20 right now, with a high overcast.
It did deposit some white wet stuff up on the hill (so we are still getting some sn@wpack in the mountains) which we really need!

The chicken was good last night; but the grilling ruse to get rain didn’t work. Got a little sn*w around 6000 ft (that’s 1000 ft above us).

Well, my day malfunctioned, smoker shut down and when I restarted it flamed up :-\

Ran into some old friends from the Muzzle-loading crowd , they were grilling hot dogs invited me to join them

The guessers came through again. After a prediction of rain all day long yesterday, the only rain we got was a half hour drizzle about 9:00 PM. The mountains came out better, with 2 or more ft. of snow. The ski areas are happy as clams (albeit snow packed clams probably aren’t very happy!.
One thing we aren’t lacking around here is wind. We’re going into our third day of 20+ with gusts of 30-40. Temp supposed to get up to around fifty this afternoon.

My wife is home all week for Spring Break. Victoria and I are glad to have her home. She made us meat loaf, mashed potatoes, and English peas for supper. I rested today and recuperated from the trip to Iowa for the NCOWS convention. I am trying to get used to the time change.

Just heard the lightning strike last night that took out our power, did damage to my brother-in-law's house, which is about a 1/4 mile away. Light bulbs shattered. A TV and some appliances are dead. :o

Went out and upgraded my 1990 4runner to a 2004 4runner yesterday.
Took longer than expected, so the Dutch oven pot roast got postponed to today. Beef is marinating, so now it is about time to go sit in the new vehicle with the owner’s manual and figure out all the new bells and whistles.

Got back from a trip to SoCal earlier.
Went to South Orange County to see one of our granddaughters act in her theater group's production of "Charley and the Chocolate Factory", and just to visit a bit with the extended family. The visits I don't mind when they're not over crowded, but sometimes there are so many "extended family" there that it's sort of like going to a convention; not so this time. The play was good, about what one can expect from a group of kids from about six to thirteen years old, some good talent, some not so much - but I enjoy watching them try.
On the way home, we were north bound on I-15, and watched, with some amazement, one of the longest traffic jams I have ever seen on the south bound side of the I-15. I noticed that traffic over there was almost at a standstill when we transitioned from the California 91 in Corona, and it remained that way, moving sporadically from near stop to maybe thirty or so MPH, all the way to Las Vegas and beyond where we go off of the I-15 in central Las Vegas -- -- that is a distance of 250 miles, or there abouts. Astonishing; and on our side, we were flying along most of the way at seventy or more.

Things are keepin’ warm around here. The lawn’s startin’ to green up. May skip the Milwaukee river bottom mud (Milorganite) fertilizer this year. May have to get the mower tuned up early this year Still haven’t used the sn@w blower more than twice in the three years we’ve had It guess you could say it’s doing its duty, it has been keeping the sn@w off the sidewalk and driveway!
Off to accessorize the new driveway occupant today. It needs floor mats etc. It got decal updates yesterday (AOPA, NRA, CRPA, SASS and NRPA)

I have noticed that, too; of course I am one of the ones who is not too contributory, but sometimes, you just don't have anything to say that might be of interest to others. I won't normally discuss politics, religion, child raising, or personal hygiene, and no one wants to hear me complain about my lot in life, I ain't gone shooting, of any sort, in a long time, -------------- so, I just drop by a couple of times a day, and if I think I can contribute something to a subject, or have a mundane bit of news I'd like to spread, I will; but otherwise, I'm keeping my trap shut.

We are under the gun tonight, ground zero in a corridor running from West Lake Tohopekaliga ( Kissimmee ) NE through Canoe Creek, Deer Run (my area ) to Alligator Lake , 1/4 mile due east of me. Then on over to Harmony, Holopaw & Deer Park.
The first alarm warning went off at 9: PM , piercing sound those things... Major lighting show.
We've had some high wind gusts and VERY HEAVY Rain...
Kind calm now, not really sleeping kinda listening and watching the broadcast....
I know it's nothing new to you Mid Westerners :-\
But it has my attention :o

Supposed to be in the low 80's today. I'm going to the range (if I ever get moving), and try out my newly smith'd Pietta 1860 Army revolvers, and my Pedersoli Trapdoor carbine with my home-made firing pin. This is the second pin the TD has broken, and I've had two on back order from VTI since November when I bought the first replacement. I fashioned one out of a de-priming pin from an RCBS sizing/de-priming die. It pops the primers fine....now I need to see how it does with really ammo.

We survived over 8" of rain (more coming ) two Tornado warnings Thur. night, when we were in the cross hairs & again
yesterday afternoon .... only damage ( wind) was 200' section of board fence down the road, was listing 45 degrees to port .
Lot of standing water...with luck it wipe out the Love bug swarm in April. ::)
Helped stuff gift bags for Lady's day at the range this morning , we set a new record over 400 bags in 40 minutes... lots of neat stuff too.
The Ranges Lady's day is next Saturday, Huge turnout last year, 319 ladies most had never shot or very little .
This year we signed out 400 openings in less than a day and a 1/2 ...We are private range/club and ladies show great interest.
Speaks well for Shooting in general and every discipline is well attended.

I think I would like a cuppajoe. It's late afternoon, now, got up and went to the dentist this morning, got my choppers all nice and shiny; told the hygienist that she was waterboarding me - my nose was plugged up, and I had to breathe through my mouth, and the water that didn't get sucked up by the suction tube was collecting in my throat and I couldn't breathe without it choking me. Gaaaack!! Just sort of wandered through the day, had a nap this afternoon, -----------
Cloudy - mostly - here today, way on the cool side, 54 according to NWS, there is a pretty blanket of sn(* on the mountains to the west and north, and the wind that is blowing - about ten MPH - from them is cold. Supposed to begin to warm up tomorrow, and the prognosticators are saying it will be into the eighties by Sunday; guess we'll see.

We got about 4-6” of wet white stuff throughout the day on Monday, it’s been warm during the day yesterday, and Monday so it’s almost all gone already. Supposed to be sunny and get up to the low 50’s. Only 32 right now.
Been under weather the last couple days, but seem to have mostly shaken it this morning. Going to take it easy today.
Still waiting on the final paperwork from the dealer so I can get the new 4Runner titled and registered.

We went with take-out burgers and fries for supper. I plan on taking Moose out tomorrow night for Tex-Mex. This week has gone by pretty fast. It looks like the rain has moved on. The yards need to be mowed again, guess that I will do that tomorrow morning.
