Hello
I'm just getting into this game and purchased a New Vaquero 45 Colt 4 5/8" Barrel. I am thinking of purchasing a Wolff Shooters Pak spring kit but am a little confused by their product description. The hammer spring on their Shooters Pak 40-14 (sku 33251) is described as being intended for use on the new vaquero with the XR-3 grip frame with the internal hammer lock. My new vaquero does not have the hammer lock. Do I still use that hammer spring even though my revolver doesn't have the hammer lock or do I need a different spring ?

Never mind i'll give Wolff a call in a couple hours.

I don't know anything about Wolf Springs, but I have to wonder what makes you think you need them in the first place? Just because? I have 4 different BH's and haven't felt the need to do anything to them. They tend to smooth up nicely with use. Mine did anyway. Sorry I can't be more help.

King thanks for responding. Though I'm not completely sold on swapping out the springs as of yet, I am thinking that I would experiment with different springs to see how it would effect the action especially when cocking the hammer. My thought is that I will be shooting either gun fighter or duelist.
I spoke with the folks at Wolff this morning and for those who may be curious the lady stated that the hammer springs that come with the XR-3 grip frame shooters pak will work with or without the internal hammer lock.

I have two NVs. One has the hammer lock and one does not. The spring kit worked on both however, I found that the NV with the hammer lock took more pressure to cock, with equal rated springs. I had to go down one spring to equalize things.

I have Wolff springs in most all of our Rugers.
The 15# hammer springs have given no problem with Winchester LP primers.
I do not always put the trigger springs in.
Good luck,
