Title: Climate change
Post by: Dan Gerous on September 02, 2014, 07:23:46 PM
In the last week we've had approximately 6 inches of rain, but I know an even better indicator of climate change. I was in Sioux City a couple of weeks ago for the annual Sgt. floyd Memorial Encampment. We set up our Lewis and Clark encampment at the state welcome center and on Saturday night we go down to Ol' Charlie's grave and do a memorial service in full dress 1804 uniform. As we sat around the fire with a few sundowners we started talking and realized the ground is harder, the trails are steeper, and the Earth's  gravity has changed, causing my musket balls to fly erratically. When I mentioned this to my wife, she had some ridiculous theory about age. Ridiculous, right? I just wondered if anyone else has noticed this meteorological pheneomenon.

I think climate change is real.  But age change is realer (if that's a word) and more personal.  I decry (but admit) the necessity to agree to all of the above observations...

I don't know about any changing sea levels they talk about, but I do know the land level seems to be going down. It sure is farther to the ground to pick things up than it used to be!

Forget climate change, what about gravity change! It sure seems to take a lot more effort to get back up these days once I'm down ;D

You learn about the gravitational "constant" in physics class. Constant my butt!
I picked up the 10 lb weight at the gym at the start of my workout. I picked it up again at the end. It weighed more at the end. Gravity increased over the 1 hour training session.

whew ! I hope you're right.... I thought my arms were getting shorter.

I'm certain my legs are the same though , cause they still reach the ground.

But My Dear Blair -
I have always been taught by the Elders that we should not to go somewhere
where we have not already been invited.

Thus, if when I am wanted there, I am certain I will be sent for.

The perfect musical background for this thread is:  "I'm too damn young to feel this damn old."

I don't gettin' older so long as I learn in the process. What I do resent is the longer recovery/healing time after I suffer an injury.
I simply don't bounce back like I used to.

Being a lifelong fitness buff has helped stave of 'decrepititus' and I still do hand stand push ups, sit ups and pump some iron - daily.
I've watched too many who gave up on themselves pay a heavy price for it in their physical health.

We are what we eat and what we do. It's all up to us.
