Title: Taylor's Smoke Wagon
Post by: doc spudley on March 13, 2008, 02:52:01 PM
Has anyone ordered a smoke wagon from Taylor's?  If so, how long did it take to get it?  I have ordered a pair of 45's several months ago and cannot seem to get any word when they will be shipped.  This may be a great shooten iron, but if you cannot get it, what good is it.  Any comments are welcome.

I have a Deluxe in 44-40.  I got mine just as soon as Uberti started to make them in this caliber.  If you get the Deluxe, Cody C.  has to work on it so it takes longer.  Taylors is dependent on Uberti to run them through in production just like with all the guns that Uberti makes.  Alot of times Taylors or Cimarron are unable to give dates of arrival because they simply dont know until the guns hit the shores of the US.  Be patient, you will get it.

Two days ago my FFL dealer called Taylor's for me and they said they were working on a batch of Deluxes to send out. I imagine they are pretty swamped with orders and working real hard to get them out for the new season. Hope yours are the next ones out the door Doc!

I inquired with my local FFL about a pair of Deluxe models in 44-40.  I was told the wait list was long so I opted for a new pair of Open Tops in 44 Colt instead!  ;D

Maybe I will try for the Smoke Wagons again sometime later this year.

You certainly picked  good  "runner up" guns.  Plus you got the open tops in 44 colt which is an excellent choice.

Deadeye Don,
How do you like your Deluxe Smoke Wagon now that you've had it for awhile? I am thinking of buying one in 44-40. I plan to shoot BP in it, was your point of impact on?

Dick,   I love my Smokewagon.  The Deluxe version is the smoothest gun I own even compared to the out of box USFAs.  As with most guns the point of aim varies a bit depending on the load and bullet weight, but if I do my part the gun is a true shooter.  You will not be sorry you bought one.  The 44-40 is a great choice!!!

Deadeye Don,
If  I purchase one it will be the Deluxe Model. I have a 73 Winchester/Uberti in 44-40 and want a single action in 44-40 to go with it. Thanks for getting back to me.
