Good hunting and fishing, and miles of recerational trails in the nearby state and national forests.

I'm from Aromas, CA, in the Monterey Bay area. It was originally called Sand Cut in the 1870's. The locals say the town was named after the wildflowers. Or the horses. Or the sulfur springs. the truth of the matter is, none of those. Back in the late 1800's a bunch of local farmers didn't want to take the 20-mile round trip to Watsonville for their mail so they petitioned for a post office in the name of Aromitas. The Postal Service decided to grant the post office but changed the name to Aromas on the application. So the Postal Service named the town.

Now, that was a whole lot more than you bargained for, wasn't it?
