Afternoon all.

Just got home from a trip.  Somewhere in the neighborhood of 400 miles.  Went fishing last night and this morning, had bass for dinner last night.  Slept under the stars, and then enjoyed a visit to the beach today.  The Pacific was cold, but the dog enjoyed it.  I liked the 60 degree high much better than this 115 junk at home.

Reporting in from Dodge City: Travels uneventful so far.

Major EAS, new wood for that shouldn't be much problem, but I'm not sure what you can do about the "checkering"  that's been (de)filed into the receiver.

I stripped the gun down to the barrel and receiver and started draw filing the hatch marks out, I found a parts kit for that era 94 that has everything but the receiver, I'm going to get that and rebuild the action while I'm at it. The lifter doesn't always go all the way down and the new parts should fix it.

I have a question since I never claim to understand Yuppies.

Why would someone who drives a Prius come in and buy bottled water shipped in from Figi?

Is it really shipped in from Figi? Or just in the bonnets of Prius from J.a. Pan.

Morning y'all.
Coffee and tea are ready.

Taking daughter #3 to camp today. Picking her up on Friday.

I'll be praying for you, Litl Rooster.

'Tis 65 and mist. "Mostly cloudy with scattered showers. Highs around 80. Northeast wind 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 50 percent."

A new one they're stocking at my local grocery store is "alkaline water." It's water with salt and potassium soda.  Had a pH of 7.6.  they want $6/gal for it.  But it's selling, so some smart guy somewhere is making money on it.  Capitalism still works.

105 here today, expecting late afternoon thunderstorms.

Maj EA, how deep were those de-file marks? I'd be worrying about removing too much metal, since the '94 is rear locking. Also, will you send it for re-bluing? I wonder if it's from the era when they usually turn plum colored when re-blued because of the alloy used.

Went and looked at a lot of ruins here at Mesa Verde yesterday, some of the cliff dwellings are pretty amazing. Did some hiking on a pretty rough trail, no problems there, but then took a spill when I stepped on the edge of some uneven pavement.  Just kind of relaxing today, probably leaving here in the morning and start working our way back home.

I'm not going to go much farther on that side, I'll do a finish polish and then try rebluing it to see how it looks, I may look into having some engraving done to cover the left over marks.

Got home from up norte.

Del, elevation was over 1100' up norte. It is 646' here. That is why most the rivers in WI flow south.  ;) The Brule does flow norte into gitche gumee. BTW, we crossed the Chippewa.  ;D

Evening all.

2100 hours, still 90 degrees.  I decided to walk the dog anyway and it wasn't too bad since the humidity went down.  As predicted, there are some thunderstorms up north that I'm watching from the porch.

I was informed as I was writing this that my great uncle died a few hours ago from an intentional morphine OD.  He was diagnosed with a weird and painful form of skin and bones cancer about six months ago and given 6-24 months.  Basically, my uncle said forever that if he ever ended up with cancer he would just solve the problem permanently rather than go through chemo and all that, and that's what he did last night.  He went out with a glass of good whiskey and a good cigar in his hand.

We're about 7,000 feet here at the campground, Slim. Still sweatshirt weather here at the campground at Mesa Verde. BUt that won't last long,, sun hasn't reached us down in the valley yet, it's about halfway down the ridge west of us so far. Will be packing up soon, start meandering back towards the flatlands again.

Staying home today. 8 hour drive and eating fast food yesterday didn't help my colon.  ::)

Is Mesa Verde the same that is mentioned in McLintock? Is that the highest point around there?
