Afternoon all.

Raining and 48 in CA today.  Will make for a wet walk with the canine later.

I have somewhat of a question for Del here.  I'm trying to decide what finish to use in my pipe that will bring out the wood grain and protect it without changing the color too much.  I don't like the way linseed oil turns the sycamore the same shade of orange as Donald Trump.  I've tried rubbed beeswax, but that has been covering the natural color a little too much.  The only one I've found that I like so far is a coat of wax that had been gone over quickly with a blowtorch.  But it's still not quite what I'm looking for.   Any suggestions?

Afternoon all.

50 degrees, with scattered clouds and a 20mph wind in CA today.

The biggest bit of news I have today is that I was accepted to that aviation program in Montana.  So now I have to go up there for paperwork day in a month, but that's okay.  I've been wanting to take a trip up there anyway.  I just finished my celebratory cup of coffee and hot chocolate powder, and now I'm editing a book. ::)

Charlie Linnberg learned to fly in Lincoln Nebraska.  School  building is now a medical supply building and the airport is a golf course,

Depending on your flying skills- the golf course can still be a airport

Afternoon from rainy California.

We got an inch of the stuff in the past 24 hours, mixed with hail and that other icy white stuff up higher.  Took a walk with a buddy and got thoroughly soaked, but at least the dogs were happy.

Roo, that school is in Billings, yes.
On the subject of landing in weird places, my doctor is a pilot and he once had to land on the highway in a 30mph corner.  Ironically, he was on his way home from his annual inspection, but the inspector didn't torque the screws to his fuel pump enough and the high pressure output line fell out of place.  Airplanes don't fly far without fuel.

Always good when new guns do that.  I'd like a Thomson, but California.  :-\

I'll toss some water on the coals for the night crew.  I'm in that category tonight.  I'm waiting up for my parents and sister to get home from the city.  School had a field trip to Alcatraz today, so they're picking sister up from that.  I'm editing my book and tossing a ball for the dog.
